James Francis Nimmo born 15 March 1771 Sterlingshire Scotland near Falkirk. Died 14 Dec 1846 Washington Co TX Father Robert Nimmo of Scotland brought his family to Virginia 1794.

James and Son Samuel had received large parcel of land in the Robertson Colony of Texas.
A note in the Transcript say Father and Mother of Rhoda to be:
Father: Samuel Hamner born 1746: Died Thursday morning 15 may 1817 age 71.
Mother: Louisa Hamner born Aug 27 1744: died July 7 1806;
Col Morris Hamner died 4 th Jan 1819, age 48 years
Samuel Hamner died Feb 16 1823 age 49 years.
William Hamner died 4 April 1824
James Francis Nimmo Sister Margaret M/ James Fisher also of Scotland. The fisher,s that were in Richmond Va as early Merchants are this family. James m/Margaret Nimmo 1 Dec 1798 Richmond Va.
Three of their son,s I have been told played a great part in the Mexican War to make Texas a state with Gen Sam Houston. Col William S Fisher was in Galveston in 1845 and scheduled to return to Richmond soon to find his lovely lady for marriage.
Hope I have all this correct and it help,s out the Hamner family of America and most of all the good old Albemarle Co Va Troops. My GGGGG GP was James David Nimmo that m/Ann P(ittman) Gaines and and was living near this Mr Samuel Hamner and this James Francis Nimmo. I have not yet tied their relationship back in Scotland. James David Nimmo brother Robert of Bedford Co Died 1822 names a Daughter Rhoda also.
