Ramatoulaye Diallo is a model from Senegal, who won the Face of Africa 2001. She was persuaded to have her head shaved bald by the stylists for the competition and it seems to have done her no harm at all. Here's an exert from the show "Her clean shave was her most striking feature. It gave her a strong deportment that the other girls lacked, and the story behind the bald head was fascinating. When Jan Malan (Head Scout) found Ramatoulaye, she had natural dreadlocks. The international beauticians hired for the final show found her hair quite a challenge to style, and something drastic had to be done. "Ramatoulaye was not forced to cut her hair," Jan revealed. "We asked her if we could cut it and at first she was reluctant . . . she refused. After a couple of hours, she finally agreed and it was a wonderful choice because her head has a beautiful bone structure and we believe it made all the difference."
