Why no Janine?

My take on Pensacola is that the thread running throughout the entire first season was "teamwork". The younger members of the team were all unique individuals with different areas of expertise who, in learning to work together, became more than the sum of their parts.

Janine was in no way a part of this team. She did not understand the call to duty that these young Marines answered. Unlike them she was unwilling to develop a view of life which did not feature Janine Kelly as the center of the universe. Even towards the end of the series she had experienced no personal growth and taken no steps toward real maturity. Additionally, Lt. Lindstrom and Col. Hodges were such strong female characters that to suddenly have Janine appear and act like a bratty 3 year-old was jarring (and annoying) .
