Dungowan is a small village about 20klms from Tamworth in New South Wales. We have a population of about 100 when everyone is at home and the village basically consists of a Pub, General Store and Church. The Pup is very important because the Dungowan Tavern is one of our major sponsors and the watering hole for after match celeberations (we celebrate win, loose or draw). We are trying to work out at the moment if we are a Rugby League Club that likes a drink or a drinking Club that likes a game of Rugby League. We have one senior team and we play in the Group 4 Second Division competition. 2001 was the first year that Dungowan has had a Rugby League side for about 25 years. In our first season back we did quite well winning the Minor Premiership but being defeated in the Grand Final which was our only loss on our home ground all season. In 2002 we finished third and were knocked out in the prelimenary Final by eventual Premiers Kootingal. This year we have started Junior teams in Under7,8,9,10 and 11's and they play in the Tamworth Minor League Competition. . |
