Trouble Shooting HID lighting

Let lamp cool if the bulb was lit.</div> <div> 5) Incorrect ballast/lamp</div> <div> 6) Improper operating position</div> <div> 7) Failed ignitor / igniting voltage too low</div> <div> 8) Failed Capacitor / check for bulging or leaking. </div> <div> 9) Improper operating position</div> <bR> <bR> <div> <B>SHORT LAMP LIFE</B></div> <div> 1) Check outer bulb and inner bulb for defects.</div> <div> 2) Incorrect ballast / lamp</div> <div> 3) High / Low line voltage</div> <div> 4) Failing capacitor / check for bulging or leaking.</div> <div> 5) Improper operating position</div> <bR> <bR> <div> <B>FUSE BLOW / BREAKER TRIP</B></div> <div> 1) Check circuit and wiring</div> <div> 2) Overloaded circuit.  Try a different circuit.</div> <bR> <div> <B>LAMP CYCLES / FLICKERS</B></div> <div> 1) Incorrect ballast/lamp</div> <div> 2) Input voltage variations.  Try an unloaded circuit.</div> <div> 3) New Lamp.  If lamp does not stabilize after 3 starts, check ballast. </div> <div>     This happens if the lamp is European and used on standard US probe start ballasts.</div> <div>     Check markings on bulb to see if it is European.</div> <div> 4) Standard HPS lamps cycle at end of life.  Replace lamp</div> <div> 5) Check capacitor / check for bulging or leaking.</div> <div> 6) Improper operating position</div> <bR> <bR> <div> <B>LAMP STARTS SLOWLY</B></div> <div> 1) Cold start*</div> <div> 2) Low voltage</div> <div> 3) Failing capacitor / check for bulging or leaking.</div> <div> 4) Failing ignitor</div> <div>       5) Incorrect ignitor / Incorrect ignition voltage</div> <div>       6) Improper operating position</div> <bR> <bR> <bR> <div> <B>LAMP COLOR DIFFERENCE</B></div> <div> 1) New lamp.  Let burn in for 100 hours.</div> <div> 2) Incorrect color temperature (K).  Check lamp markings.</div> <div> 3) Aged lamp. Replace lamp</div> <div> 4) High / Low line voltage</div> <div>       5) If burning position was changed let burn in.</div> <div>       6) Incorrect burning position</div> <bR> <bR> <div> <B>LOW LIGHT OUTPUT</B></div> <div>         1) Cold start*.  Let lamp warm up.</div> <div>         2) Low operating voltage.  Check line voltage.</div> <div> <B>        </B>3) Check wiring</div> <div>         4) Incorrect ballast / lamp</div> <div>         5) Failing capacitor / check for bulging or leaking.</div> <div>         6) Lamp over heating.  Check reflector is NOT </div> <div>             refocusing energy at the inner bulb (arc tube).</div> <div>   7) Improper operating position</div> <bR> <bR> <div> <B>ARC TUBE TURNS BLACK / ARC TUBE SWELLING OR SCORCHING</B></div> <div>   1) Incorrect lamp wattage.  Ballast over riding the lamp.</div> <div>   2) Failing capacitor / check for bulging or leaking.</div> <div>         3) Lamp over heating.  Check reflector is NOT </div> <div>             refocusing energy at the inner bulb (arc tube).</div> <div>         4) Lamp glowing dim.  Certain lamps only partial discharge / Replace lamp</div> <div>         5) Lamp at end of life.
