Sallie A. Stewart

I am currently looking for information for my great grandmother Sallie A.Stewart. According to Sallie's death certificate, she was born in London, Laurel County, Kentucky, January 14, 1876 and shows that her mother was  Jane Stewart (born in Laurel County, KY). Sallie died July 22, 1944 in Hamilton, Butler County, KY. I have not found a birth record for Sallie.

Sallie married Gilbert (Gip) Owens on January 14, 1894, in Laurel County, KY. Witness were James H. Gregory & JR Gregory. Gip & Sallie Owens had the following children:

Maude Owens, b March, 1895, married Harry Young
Martha Katherine Louise Owens, b March 09, 1897, married John Hale
Cordelia (Chorda), b May 16, 1898, married Simon Mooney
Gilbert Owens, b October 1899
Laura Emmaline Owens, b February 04, 1901, East Bernstadt, KY, m William Hoskins b Jackson Co., KY. William and Laura Owens Hoskins were my grandparents.

Sallie Stewart Owens also married (2) Daniel Coleman and (3)  Isaac (Ike) Combs. Sallie married Isaac Combs September 6, 1923 in Butler County, OH.  The marriage record for Sallie and Isaac shows that Sallie's father was Lee Cole.

Sallie A. Stewart

Sallie's mother, Jane Stewart, is shown living with Gip and Sallie Owens on the 1900 Clay County, KY Census. I do not have a copy of this census. Jane Stewart is shown as being Gip Owens' mother-in-law and as being single. Jane Stewart may have never married Sallie's father.  Jane Stewart is buried in Pittsburg Cemetery in Pittsburg, Laurel County, KY.   The gravestone shows Jane Steward, born 4/6/1849 and death date of 1/24/1903.

I do have the 1870 & 1880 transcribed Census Books for Laurel County, KY. Another Stewart family researcher helped me to find the possible mother of Sallie, Jane Stewart. It is possible the below Nancy J. Stuart could be Sallie's mother if the J. would be for the name Jane.
