was born on February 04, 1901 in East Bernstadt, Laurel
Co., KY. She was the daughter of Gilbert 'Gip'
Owens and Sallie Stewart Owens.
She married William

My great grandfather Gilbert 'Gip' Owens was born April 23, 1867 in Clay County, KY. His mother was Sarah 'Sallie' Owens, born 1846 in Kentucky. Sallie never married and I am not sure who Gip's father was. Gip's brothers and sisters were James, b 1873, Mary, b 1876, Samuel A., b 1879, Jane, b 1882 and Lula, b October 1887. According to the 1900 Clay County, Kentucky Census Family # 111-113, all the Owens children were born in Kentucky.
Gip was married to (1) Sealy (Ceilia) Owens in 1890, Clay Co., KY. Sealy was the daughter of Hilliard Owens from Claiborne Co., TN. (see below query for Hilliard Owens from another Owens researcher). Gip then married (2) Sallie A. Stewart, my great grandmother. Gip Owens' grave stone shows that he died Juanuary 26, 1913. Gip is buried in the Pittsburg Cemetery in Pittsburg, Laurel Co., KY. Gip died while he was working for a railroad company and killed in a train accident.

My great-great grandmother (mother of Gip Owens) was Sallie Owens, daughter of William Owens and Sarah Bunch. William Owens married Sarah Bunch on February 11, 1828, in Knox County, Kentucky. Sallie's brothers and sisters were:

I am currently searching for the birthplace of Washington Owens. Washington Owens was the father of my 3 great grandfather William Owens. Washington Owens was born about 1780 and was married to Amy (or possibly Sarah Ann) Unknown. Washington and Amy Owens died in Laurel County, Kentucky. Their children were:
