![]() ![]() The Fun Zone Children's Center on Star Princess
A PARNAMI Cruise Page
The biggest change on Star Princes versus her older sisters was in moving the Fun Zone/Off Limits (teen center) from it's forward position beside the spa to the back in the space her sister ships utilize for the interesting, if underutilized electronic arcade. There is NO arcade on Star Princess!
The Fun Zone Children's Center provides specially tailored, supervised programs of activities for children in two age classifications: the Pelicans (ages 3-7) and the Pirateers (ages 8-12). Both groups are provided their own, segregated facilities each with age appropriate equipment and toys. A main door controls access to the entire facility, including the adjacent Off Limits Teen Center. Each playroom/learning center is also enclosed behind a door.
![]() Two sun sheltered outside areas, each cordoned off by deck to ceiling nets, are accessible only from within the Fun Zone. There is no other outside access, though, in the event of an emergency, the nets quickly, can be cut for access to the children. There is a small splash pool.
![]() A new feature parents should appreciate is the new in port program offering a full schedule of activities for the kids while the ship is in port thus freeing the parents to enjoy their day ashore without having to arrange for babysitting services. Advance registration is required for each day's participation.
In developing the educational programs, Princess collaborated with the California Science Center for assistance in providing hands on activities geared around the ship's particular destinations. Kids receive activity books and other materials designed to connect them to sights of nature and geography that they could encounter while on board, and which, hopefully, will continue to inspire them long after returning home.
![]() Registration for the activities is held the first day, after which signed up participants each night will receive the next day's schedule of activities delivered to their stateroom.
