Neptune's Reef & Pool on Star Princess

A PARNAMI Cruise Page

Neptune's Reef Pool is Star Princess' largest and one of two family pools on board.   The water area consists of two parts, the actual swim or pool area and the surrounding "reef" consisting of shallows outside of the actual pool yet within the surrounding freeform dyke that contains the water.  When the pool is filled properly, 6 inches of water sloshes back and forth along the reef, propelled by the motion of the ship, providing activity not unlike that experienced along a sandy shore.

Four "bridges" move passengers over the dykes although, for many, the normal mode of entrance will be to climb over the undulating top edges of the fiberglass containing wall that forms the dyke.  Two hot tubs, placed beside the aft portion of the pool provide ideal vantage points for viewing the activity in the pool below without actually forcing the users to participate.

A glass-enclosed shower forward on the reef provides instant cooling without the need to enter the water.  The water, incidentally, is fresh, and the pool remains filled under ordinary circumstances.

The now expected Wyland created Orca Statue, again, is located forward and this one is a beauty.

Pool access is via ladder, with no stairs provided, thus, this is NOT a pool for the marginally ambulatory.

Surrounding deck areas, alongside and above, are filled with resin recliners and tables with chairs.  All seats, regardless of deck, have cloth covered seating cushions for additional comfort.   Seating directly beside the pool area though is quite congested due to the large number of chairs there located.  For passengers seeking fresh air, yet still, trying to avoid being completely wind blown, there are a couple of smaller deck areas surrounded by glass windbreaks.  If you are worried about your hair one of these areas may be worth your while to seek out.

Alternating resins and astro turf with teak accents covers the decks. For those with an aversion to astro turf, seek another ship.  Personally, I think it's a good material for bare feet, one I much prefer over teak, particularly when I'm not wearing shoes!

Lido deck sunbathers are serviced by the Mermaid's Tail Bar.  Those on Sun deck (one deck up) have Tradewinds to quench their tastes.  Tradewinds is open daily from 8:30 AM (9:00 AM on port days) until 7:00 PM, weather permitting.

Neptune's Reef Pool remains open 24 hours!
