Explorer's Lounge on Star Princess

A PARNAMI Cruise Page

Explorer's Lounge is the second, and most intimate of the three show-lounges on board Star Princess.  Seating only 274, Explorer's is an ideal venue for cabaret and comedy type acts.  This lounge provides little in the way of tiering, although table groupings are set on varying levels, which does help with sightlines.  Table groupings subdivide the room into cozy sections, almost like being in private rooms, with rails surrounding them.  Each grouping varies slightly in decor, while still adhering to the general "exotic" theme.

During the day, Explorer's is used as the setting for the onboard art auctions.  Display items are displayed everywhere on board, cheapening the appearance of the ship, overall.  Be careful about some sneaky marketing on the part of the auctioneers.  As the cruise approaches its end, you will be advised of the "final Art Auction".  A day later, you will be notified, again, of the "final art auction" the sequel!  Cute, but deceitful!

During my cruises on Star, Explorer's was used for several nighttime dance parties, a piano recital featuring songs of George & Ira Gershwin, team trivia, karaoke, and one country hoedown.  Dance music follows each evening's formal entertainment until late.

Normal hours of operation are from 5pm until "late".
