A PARNAMI Cruise Page
Forward on Fiesta and Promenade decks is Star Princess' pinnacle showroom, The Princess Theater. Accommodating 748 patrons, a mere 25% of the ship's passenger capacity, The Princess Theater is a much smaller venue than might be expected to be found on such a large ship. According to Princess, this is not done by error, but rather is a benefit of its trademark "Personal Choice" whereby passengers "choose" their evening's entertainment schedule rather than being assigned to it.
Each evening, in addition to choosing when, where and with whom to dine, passengers also select from a variety of entertainment choices held throughout the ship including that provided within the three available entertainment showrooms: Vista Lounge, Explorer's Lounge and, of course, The Princess Theater. ![]() Spanning 5 decks, including pits and lofts, the Princess Theater is capable of handling the most complex of Broadway style production shows. During shows, sound does penetrate into forward-located cabins so, for those people for whom that could present a problem, I suggest booking elsewhere. The accommodation decks in question are Plaza, Emerald and Dolphin in areas immediately adjacent the theater spaces. For most people, the occasional noise will not ruin a cruise but for others, it is best to be forewarned.
![]() Princess spared little expense in designing the stage area. A true proscenium arch, the stage features just about every available gimmick needed to facilitate the production of truly complex shows.
State of the art lighting and effects make everybody and everything look terrific! Set pieces, some of them quite large and complex, can be brought stage center, automatically, via a variety of means, whether they are stored below, above, to the side or to the rear of the stage. Trap doors hidden above and below stage provide the ability, continually, to introduce or remove cast members on stage in novel ways. When the show format calls for it, a runway into the audience is supplied at the cost of several seats. There is even a water curtain when the show calls for it! There's so much going on that, even if you have no interest in the performance itself, it can be entertaining just to watch the stage! For those interested, a free tour behind the scenes is offered near cruise end. Taking it is time well spent! ![]() Largely, seating is good with excellent views provided from most locations. BUT, when it's bad, it's really bad: there are several seats just to the rear of the orchestra balconies on both sides of the theater that provide ZERO visibility: not a single square inch of the stage can be seen from them, nothing, zilch! I have not a clue as to their purpose! Because of their somewhat difficult location, they are not even suitable for the blind!
