The Shops on Star Princess

Spaced within the two upper decks of the Atrium is Star Princess' arcade of shops. Each styled as upscale boutiques; their content follows the well-established formats of most of today's cruise ships. Passengers will find little in the way of surprise.

Across the Plaza from Meridian Bay is Calypso Cove, the largest of the shops on Star Princess. Calypso Cove serves as the ship's requisite outlet for Princess Logo merchandise as well as souvenirs reflecting the ship's ports of call. A selection of practical clothing is available for passengers who happened to leave without their sweater or jacket and now, have regrets. This is also the Sundry and Liquor store aboard Star Princess. Books, magazines, candy, snacks and medications are available for purchase. Liquor is provided for sale, but purchases may not be removed from the shop. Instead, Princess holds all liquor purchases until the final night of the cruise. Obviously, someone crunching numbers for the Company has serious concerns about losing a bar sale or two, so, instead, has decided that treating passengers like children is an appropriate way to build a repeat business.

That same number cruncher, apparently, has decided that medication such as Dramamine, properly, should be SOLD to passengers feeling under the weather due to ship's motion instead of handed out gratuitously, as is commonplace with most cruise lines. No, I am not speaking of token charges either; Princess is charging serious money for seasick medication! Shame on them!

Finally, there is Essence, the shop I suspect most men will hate: it kinda stinks! This is the perfume and cosmetic store with a nice selection of perfumes and colognes for both women and for men. Do not miss the free samples in the basket by the cash register. Guys, if you time it right, you can get in and out without breathing! I have done it!
