Weapon customisation and Customization Flaws

You can pay to have weapons customised at one of the many workshops across the galaxy. It can be customised as much as you like as an improvement in one part will cause a detriment else where. Below is a list of some of the things you can do.

  • Increase accuracy
  • Increase damage
  • Increase number of shots
  • Decrease reload time
  • Decrease weapon weight
  • Increase range (flame weapons only)
  • Improve thrown weapons
  • Combine two weapons

    When you make an improvement to one stat you need to balance this out with a detriment to another.

    Combining two weapons can be as simple as taping the two weapons together and wiring the triggers into one. If you want to combine two weapons add their weights together. It counts as a basic weapon unless the combined weight is over 60 in which case it counts as a heavy weapon. At the bottom of the page a set of rules can be found for customising weapons.

    Customization Flaws (Phil Johnson)
    It is not uncommon practice for a desperadoe or Inquisitor to meddle with his gear, improving the rate of fire, or the damage, or whatever. Sadly, it is also common for them to include flaws in the weapons induced by unskilled tinkering. These come as follows:

    Double-tap : The gun tends to fire off multiple shots instead of one. when firing a single shot, the guibn expends two rounds of ammunition. the second shot is wasted. this only applies to basic and bolter weaponry.

    Kicks like a mule : The gun has a massive recoil, reducing its innate accuracy by a further 10%. Does not apply to Flame, Melta or Plasma guns.

    Should it be making that noise? This rule only applies to flamers, meltas, and plasma weapons. Some archaic bit of the internal workings is out of alignment, or faulty, dirty, broken, or just plain missing! Firing the weapon is a risky action, with the weapon automatically exploding should the test be failed. The firer counts as shooting themselves in the firing arm.

    BZZZAAAAAAMMM!!!! Only applies to las weapons. Firing the weapon is a risky action. If failed, the gun vomits forth the contents of it's entire power cell in one massive blast, before melting. The gun fires off all the shots remaining in it's ammo cell as one shot, with a -35% accuracy modifier. If the target is hit, they count as having been shot in one location by all of the shots fired off (Example: A laspistol has five shots left, and suffers from this malfunction. It fires five shots simultaeniously, causing a total of 5XD6 damage. That's Five times the roll of one D6, not 5D6) The gun is destroyed, and is now useless except as an improvised weapon.

    Click, click! Firing the gun is a risky action. If failed, it jams as described for drum or belt-fed bolters.




    This for those of you who like using a points system or a set of rules to follow.
    Decide what you want done and pay the weaponsmith his fee (1 point common, 2 points rare, 3 points exotic and 5 points legendary). You can get your weapon customised as much as you like as an improvement in one part will cause a detriment else where.

    When you have decided what you want done, pay the relevant amount and roll on the table below.
    D10 Result
    1-2 Job bodged. Roll on bodge table. You are still charged for his services.
    3 Can’t get the parts – Nothing done, your points are refunded.
    4-10 Good job- refer to appropriate section.

    Bodges. In the next game roll on the bodge table to see what has happened to the weapon. Once the weapon has been fielded then you can take it back and get the bodge fixed for free. This doesn’t stop you having something else done at the same time.

    1 Don’t ask -nothing happens.
    2 Bits left out -shoots once as normal then falls apart.
    3 Sights bodged -ranges to hit doubled.
    4 Aim bodged –5 to hit.
    5 Aim bodged –10 to hit.
    6 Trigger stuck –Empty the magazine at the first target you shoot at as if it had full(x) (where x= number of shots the guns holds).
    7 Less power –Halve any damage the weapon does.
    8 Decrease reload rate by 1.
    9 Decrease reload rate by 2
    10 Heavier –The gun now weighs 10 more

     Combine weapons: Combi-weapon, have another weapon grafted onto a ranged weapon. This second weapon only fires one shot per game and adds weight to the gun equal to half the weight of the second weapon. You must bring the two weapons to be grafted and specify which one is the base gun and which is the one shot gun. Roll a D6 on a 1-2 the combining weapons has affected the base weapon (roll on the table below), on a 3-4 it has affected the one shot weapon and on a 5-6 it has had no effect on either weapon (roll on the table below).
