Tak, Aka Belphragor, the daemon that Inquisitor Hlokk wishes to install as the new god of humanity - Alan Brilly

+++Thought for the day+++

Tak was not a daemon, it was not a psychic entity, or a mortal life form of any kind. Instead Tak was a disease, a virus that fed upon the galaxy like a cancer in the early days of creation. Tak was beyond mortal comprehension, a presence that could not be explained by the spiritual or scientific divinations of the early races like the old ones, the krell and the C'tan. When the power of tak was invoked by a potent psyker, everything it touched became corrupted by the unspeakable depravity of Tak.

Tak was a scientifically created creature created several million years ago. He was created to be a psychic entity that would feed upon the psychic energy of others, creating a large natural reservoir of psychic energy that could be tapped and channelled with a thought. Tak served this way for years, not having an identity or any sentient thoughts. 20 million years before the depraved acts of the C'tan, the creators of Tak discovered something to their horror, Tak was beginning to evolve. it was not thought possible for psychic entities to evolve in a real world environment, and naturally it shouldn’t be, as a psychic entity is a collection of a certain type of emotion, as Slannesh is the gathering of every depraved thought of energy race in the universe, and Khorne is the collection of the emotions of Anger and bloodlust (this is taken from www.roleplay.co.uk, I think its from rogue trader.).

However, Tak was a scientifically created entity, one of only 5 created in the time frame. Tak's evolution was slow, gaining the sort of self-awareness that may be present in an amoeba. Tak found several things in the millions of years in which its sentience began to evolve, it found that it could not reproduce and therefore its time, whilst being until the end of time, would be alone and therefore fruitless. Tak took a passive role in the evolution of a particularly psychically active galaxy, the Milky Way.

Tak was not invoked psychically and thus his powers grew exponentially and massively until he rivalled other daemonic entities given godhood by other races, like Khane and Vaul. Tak saw the rising of the Eldar race and followed their evolution passively. In this time, Tak conducted his psychic energies into evolving a more concentrated sentience and therefore a greater self-awareness. Tak realised that the key to this lay in the black library of the Eldar. to this End, Tak took the step of making his presence known to the race known as the Psygore.

The Psygore recognised the enormous potential of channelling Tak's powers and to this end conducted a ritual, which bound him into a body. Tak's psychic presence was like a disease and the body soon corrupted and decayed, therefore Tak found another and another until he could psychically manipulate 30000 Psygore to mount one of their huge Arcs and head into Eldar space. During this time, Slaanesh was growing in pain and it was just as Slaanesh was born into existence and the deaths of billions of Eldar, that Tak entered the world on which a portal to the black library could be found. leading his army onto the planet, he encountered no resistance as he found the portal. through the web way he and his army stepped and found themselves immediately confronted by a troupe of harlequins. 50 harlequins were no match for an entire army of 30000 and were massacred.

As Tak entered the library, he discovered that his power had been significantly drained by the birth of Slannesh, as this had drained a great deal of psychic energy from the universe. Tak entered the black library and was confronted by its most terrible guardian, weakened from the birth of Slannesh as well. the two did battle and Tak triumphed, although his mortal form passed away and he sacrificed a great deal of himself.

He found the texts he was looking for and ordered the survivors of his army, all 10 of them after many had perished in a psychic shockwave, to perform the rites that would allow the ultimate creation of self consciousness and would therefore grant tak self awareness as well as allowing him to ascend to daemonhood. Had it not been for the destruction of Tak's army and the loss of much of his power, he could have ascended to god hood.

As it stood, he became a being named Belphragor, a powerful daemon and almost a God. He took physical form and ordered his followers to read what they could of the library’s many secrets, before the guardian recovered and Belphragor was banished back to the warp. In the weeks that followed (bear in mind this is about 3 days after the birth of Slaanesh so the Eldar were in no fit state to retaliate) Belphragor learned much, especially that the Key to attaining God hood from Daemonhood was in the consuming of the psychic energy of a God already. Obviously Slaanesh, Nurgle, Tzench, Khorne and Malal were not obvious choices, as they would consume Belphragor. Belphragor realised that the secret for this would be the immensely weakened human emperor, who was himself, the human equivalent of a God.

To this end, Belphragor slaughtered his followers lest they reveal his plan and disappeared into the warp. on various times he would orchestrate a plan to weaken the emperor, even going as far as to appear to a space wolf in a vision claming to be a vision from Leman Russ. this caused a crusade from the Golgotha sub system, where the Iron wolf great company were operating.

Consequently, a sporadic rise in suicide bombings and terrorist activity from chaos cults led to the weakening of the Imperium. Finally, in the last days of the 41st millennium, the daemon allowed himself to be summoned to a planet and then appeared as a daemon. Inquisitor Hlokk bound him to a Human host after his dying master advised Hlokk that this daemon might hold the key to saving the Imperium. it is to this end that the daemon and the inquisitor work together. both realise that the emperor's psychic shield over the Imperium is weakening and will eventually collapse. When this happens, both plan to allow Belphragor to consume the psychic energy in order to create a new, benevolent human god that will banish Chaos from the galaxy.

Belphragor, on the other hand, has his own secret motives. To date, the inquisitor and his cohorts and henchmen, Belphragor, Blayde and his twinner Azal, the chrono gladiator Gryz and the officio saboturum agent Kawalski, have put into effect plans to accelerate the destruction of the emperors will.
