Bio-weapon Chrono Gryx aka Weapon X - Alan Brilly
+++Thought for the day+++
The scientists of the 13th founding were all assumed dead after the raid by Fabius bile on the complex, and the destruction of priceless scientific data. Not all were killed, some were removed from their station early, the attack by fabius bile being predicted by The Imperium. Most were left so that bile would think all the knowledge his, but that was not the case. The scientists now reside on terra, working in genelabs and other areas of science in order to remove the plague of mutation sweeping humanity.
Their experiments in the field of biological and chemical progress was unrivaled and it soon became apparent that their latest creation, the drug known as RBOI-01 could be used to create, what was, essentially, a hybrid of a marine, an ogryn and a human.
The aim was to allow this drug to be injected into the user, causing metabolic changes that would take years with conventional surgery. The negative side effect was that this rendered the victim rather slow and dullwitted, but due to the state of the Imperium, this technology was rushed before it had been properly tested and, as a result, the first results were catastrophic. It could only be used on people with blood type 001A, which equated to 1 in 100 people.
Suddenly sub system wide blood test campaigns were being launched, offering free healthcare. Those with the matching blood type were hauled away under the pretence of having a virulent sexually transmitted disease. Those with the blood types were then sorted into rhesus +ve and rhesus ve types. With =ve patients, the tests worked a lot more efficiently, as with albino's, the results were fantastic, changing them completely from physical weaklings to superhuman killing machines.
Gryx was one of these men, who would have been killed on a more primitive world such as Fenris, he was shifted into a backseat roll all his life. He embraced the injection of the drug with open arms and was injected, but something went wrong, he became something more than a superhuman killing machine, he retained his intellect and his capacity for independent thought, he was the perfect leader for the forces that had been created and gladly accepted this roll, leading the army against the tau on several occasions, destroying whole cadres in seconds.
Something else was wrong though. He succumbed to a disease, which, due to his weakened albino immune system, ravaged him. Tau surgeons on the field of battle who sought to interrogate him saved him. It was at that time that Hlokk led a force against the tau outpost. Led by a tau renegade, they captured Gryx and the technology keeping him alive, regenerating him and allowing him an important roll in life once again.
When Gryx awoke, he discovered that Hlokk had led a raid on the labs at the imperial guard outpost and had stolen a large quantity of RBOI-01. With this drug, Hlokk intended to create an army similar to the one Gryx fought in. with a guard regiment already under his control, along with 100s of cults across the galaxy, Gryx sees Hlokk as a madman but must stay with him unless he wishes to die due to the destruction of the technology.
