Inquisitor battle report - The Rescue
Well here's the latest instalment of Inquisitor Ratheol and hopefully last of this mini-campaign. Everyone starts to be little softened up, weapons have been destroyed and main combatants are running out of main weapon ammo. After last engagement Ratheol finds his friends being captured as he had to go secure prisoner containing possibly useful information about Lothos (it was) and when he got back all had gone. Ratheol has traced them down and now has to release them and make a run once prisoners are freed. Not going to be easy being outnumbered 5-1 from beginning...But hey we are talking about Inquisitor Ratheol here. He welcomes Challenges ;-)

===========================

There was something comfortable in this darkness...He had to sneak into lair of devil and there any cover would be welcomed. Sprinting forward he reached edge of tunnel catacombs. This was it. Listening around he tried to hear something...He heard nothing...

Natalie and Tobius walked forward. They were given instruction to secure the place and while beastmen and Naraon were left behind to guard the entrance to room where Lothos and prisoner were Natalie and Tobius would be walking around trying to spot any intruder, ESPECIALLY the triple cursed Ratheol. Walking calmly weapons rested they heard nothing.

Ratheol walked forward and glanced to right through tunnel. He saw nothing and heard even less...Then he heard something. Gentle footsteps and small murmuring from right. Shrugging he walked over the gap into next side tunnel...Knowing he needed to be quiet he literally crawled on foot through side tunnel...Ratheol just hoped he wouldn't sneeze right now...After clearing small tunnel he leaned to wall. The notices he had heard HAD to be guards walking through routine. He would wait 'till they had passed over him and then make his move...He heard notices from where he had just came and laid still...Then he started to hear walk behind him in other side tunnel. Guards had split up. Quickly he moved, carefully, quietly, into side tunnel. Making himself as small spot as possible he laid still. He saw human figure, the one carrying hammer, looking into side tunnel but darkness saved him. Man just walked over. Ratheol breathed sigh of relief and moved over elsewhere. Hearing small talk he recognised human male, and quite easily, beastmen talking to each other. Steps of guards were getting quieter all the time. Smiling Ratheol prepared smoke grenade...

Ratheol released hell. Sprinting over the corner he threw a smoke grenade landing it to fill the small gap man and beastmen were guarding. He charged into man and inside smoke field landed heavy blow which hit straight into head. Naraon flew through air his brains almost destroyed by the heavy impact...Continuing his spring he grabbed plasma pistol and looked around corner. Seeing Lothos he released his plasma pistol at sustained firing. One hit straight to head and Lothos fell...

Beastmen growled. Out of nowhere a smoke field had appeared, he had heard a man scream in pain and now some gunfire. Lashing with his only remaining cleaver he sought out enemies(player note. We made beastmen roll sagacity test or he wouldn't be totally aware what's exactly happening and needs to spend turn figuring it out. He duly failed it being stupid beast(which inspired the roll to start with).

Quickly Ratheol sprinted to his friends. Grapping one of his throwing knives he quickly cut loose his two friend and gave both one of his throwing knives and laspistols. Not weapons they are used to they still could at least defend themselves. Now all they needed to do is to get out...

Beastmen finally figured it out. Someone had got past the defences! Roaring he sprinted through gas and over the gap...And noticed starting at the end of 3 weapon...He roared at joy...

Natalie and Tobious turned around in surprise. Gunfire behind them! They had missed someone! Lothos would not be pleased...'Tobius take that way! I'll go over where we came and we'll corner the bastard who did this!' Seeing Tobius nod Natalie turned around stubber raised in his hand...

Seeing beastmen Ratheol raised his bolt pistol and let loose 3 bolter round one round at a time. His accurate firing hit the beastmen into groin and chest doing horrible damage. Beastmen fell to ground(player note. Chest hit was 2 point from causing 2 level of damage, which is quite big with toughness 123, and groin DID result in 2 level of damage stunning beastmen for a while. Critically). 'Mikavael! Rafus! Get out! Lothos' stunned but for how long I can't tell! Get out while you still can!!!' That was all the 2 ex-prisoners needed and quickly ran to small gap covering it with laspistols.

Natalie ran to corner and instantly las shot whipped over her. Not bothered by such inaccurate shooting he returned fire with his stubber hitting target, human covering in the corner of room his master used to be, into abdomen. Man didn't seem to notice much. Damn the stonewalls...She heard firing on his left. Tobius was engaged too it appeared...

Mikavael laughed. The hit into his left arm just bounced from stonewall. He would make them pay...

Ratheol couldn't decide. He could see his friends locked in deadly firefight and if he came to help them he would risk Lothos getting up...Behind Ratheol and his companion. If he started to fight against Lothos he would risk his friends be overrun...And there was beastmen...Finally Ratheol decided to take care of Lothos first...He swung his fist but couldn't land more than single weak hit into Lothos' left leg...Groaning Ratheol realised his time start to end...

Rafus winced as he felt his left leg being hit, twice. Blood started to flow and he fell to ground...'Some help would be appreciated here...' he muttered.

Ratheol growled as he saw Lothos' eyes open and him raising. Lothos wasted no time and swung his fist, three time, toward Ratheol. First one Ratheol dodged easily. Another Lothos missed altogether. Third one almost got him but Ratheol dodged, it, barely (by rolling 33 needing 34...). In return Ratheol loosed up furry of blows. First 2 were dodged easily but third one got him to head. Normal man would have died instantly but Lothos was no ordinary man...He was merely stunned. Another blow to chest and Ratheol felt like Lothos was done for a while.

Meanwhile Rafus was desperately trying to bandage his left leg. Pain was beyond imagination. And Mikavael, good old Mikavael, was firing snapshots toward his foe. From the groans he had to have hit. No doubt about it.

Ratheol decided to leave Lothos as he was and ran to beastmen. Power fist whirring to action he rolled hit. Straight into groin. Beastmen winced in pain and blacked out. Smiling Ratheol ran to gap and saw women Rafus had been fighting with. Sending up bolt round he hit right arm and women dropped stubber held in his hand...

Natalie cursed. Ratheol had appeared and she knew she was outgunned here. Not even bothering to grab her stubber he ran to side tunnel and swapping axe into right arm. Patching up her head he felt pain ease a bit and wondered what she should do now. No way she can stop the enemy alone and Tobius was dubious help at best. His shotgun was firing all the time but couldn't seem to hit a thing(player note. Tobius has low ballistic skill and darkness making it even worse...).

Ratheol heard metal cranking behind him and heavy footsteps...It could mean only one thing...'LOTHOS! It's Lothos! He's awake! Run while you still can!!!' Ratheol screamed following his own advice well. He could hear his friends following him...Good.

Natalie run away and turned to left. No way he was going to wait Inquisitor and his friend who were clearly coming toward her. He looked right and saw Tobius gone too. Was the fool trying to be hero?

Figuring enough is enough Tobius holstered his shotgun and raised for his heavy hammer. Damned be if hammer wouldn't taste some delicious blood before this is over.

Lothos walked around corner and send up pair of bolter shells toward fleeing enemies. One hit into running man straight into chest(player note. 1% away from head...) and men fell only to rise soon and run away together with other two. COWARDS he thought...

Ratheol knew his friends, hurt like that and all, couldn't outrun Lothos fast enough. He needed to buy some time. Walking bit forward he turned around and took aim at the corner...

Natalie kept running away. He heard bolter firing and figured it got to be either Tobius in trouble or Lothos joining the fun. If later she could wait here and prepare trap for unsuspecting fools...Or she could escape if things got too rough...

Tobius activated drug-filtering system and ran around corner...and blacked out with pain in groin and chest...(player note. He got up huge I boost though needed strength more so with speed 9 he ran over corner into overwatch Ratheol who sent up pair of bolter shells taking Tobius into unconscious state. What luck!)

Natalie watched with smile when one of the prisoners ran over the corner. He was no Inquisitor, him she could handle. Running forward he raised his axe...

Lothos walked over the corner and watched in disbelief huge area of smoke that had appeared in front of him. Before he could recover from surprise Ratheol, his face growling with hatred, charged in. Lothos barely avoided first two swing but third hit into his left leg. But it didn't matter.

Rafus saw women running toward him. Taking careful aim he threw throwing dagger into women penetrating her arm armour just enough to scratch her. Then watched in disbelief as women ran behind the building block sobbing quietly...Then he remembered. Ratheol had habit of poisoning his daggers...

Elsewhere Ratheol and Lothos continued their deadly duel Ratheol constantly avoiding the fist of Lothos like miracle and the few hits(player note. 1 per turn) he got into Lothos doing little more than annoy Lothos...

Recovering from sudden burst of fear Natalie ran back and saw that while other men was out of his reach she could still stop the other men. Charging in she swung the axe and hit straight into right arm. Man dropped his laspistol in surprise and turned around...

Clash of titans continued. While Ratheol managed to dodge aside two more blow third one fell straight into abdomen sending Ratheol into ground. His abdomen was bleeding and he felt almost more pain than he could handle but he was determined of not letting himself to be beaten. Raising up he swung toward Lothos and second blow hit into Lothos' abdomen sending him into ground for a change. Both knew this would be over soon. One way or another.

Rafus knew he was in trouble. With no weapon whatsoever he could not hope to beat women so he broke from combat and started run for escape. Alas women followed in suit and axe fell into head of Rafus who blacked out...Deciding this was all she was required to do Natalie then left the field. 'I'll explain this by saying I went to look for the other prisoner' Natalie mused.

Ratheol dodged yet another swing and sent up three more toward Lothos. He could see Lothos was slowing down all the time and another chest hit fell Lothos to ground once more(player note. by this time Lothos has taken enough damage to tear any normal man apart by several time. Testament to his toughness! Ratheol OTOH had survived solely thanks to outrageously lucky dodge rolls...). When Lothos tried to rise once more Ratheol swung fist toward Lothos hitting into already bleeding skull. Finally Lothos blacked out(FINALLY I got third injury level into his head! Combat was over!).

========================

Worrying about his friends Ratheol decided to search for them instead of finishing his hated foe(character killing suck). He almost stumbled when he saw fallen body of Rafus blood flowing from grim head wound. Ratheol checked his pulse and was relieved to see Rafus was still alive. But he needed medical help and soon. Grabbing Rafus up Ratheol thanked for his mechanical arm. It was most handy for sure. Then Ratheol started to walk away looking for Mikavael...Lothos would pay for this someday...

========================

Okay last part of this mini-campaign has ended. I would call this excellent success for Ratheol having thwarted the summoning of daemonhost, get victim away from Lothos' wrath, interrogated him for information about Lothos and even rescued his friends from Lothos.

Lothos OTOH could only watch his plans be thwarted by resistant (and outrageously lucky) Inquisitor Ratheol...This last game went to plan fairly nicely at beginning. Sneaking around avoiding Natalie and Tobius wasn't hard. Harder was relieving friends considering no way I can make to there without raising alarm so that's what I did. Using smoke grenade to create confusion I charged into Naraon and got rid of him with head hit doing 3 level of damage and then possibly one of the most important events of game I hit Lothos to head...This gave me time to free friends uninterrupted(especially as beastmen failed his Sg test) and allowing escape to start. What I didn't consider was the deadlock escape fell instantly. Mikavael and Ratheol started duel with the guards who had returned and thanks to stone walls it was practically impossible to hurt covered areas, which naturally were only ones both sides hit, so the time I bought with Lothos stunning was quickly spent...Finally I needed good old Inquisitor to break the lock after dealing with beastmen too and after this it was RUN FOR IT! Lothos is extremely nasty bugger and Ratheol got away from this only thanks to his outrageous luck(starting to consider giving him special rule for that!) with dodges. Have to admit though. Was great fun see Ratheol and Lothos fight it out twice. Image of two great warrior dodging (even if barely) power fist swings was great fun!
