Campaign report – Timo Nevalainen

Inquisitor Logo
Inquisitor campaign started finally. I'm not good at writing stories so I'll present this in non-story format. Sorry but I just suck at writing stories. Anyway scenario's idea was that Inquisitor Ratheol following rumours of group of renegade Inquisitor's having settled on Helion 3 taking with them lots and lots of ancient information included according to rumour information about Golden Throne.

As Ratheol has taken to himself goal of trying to heal Emperor any information about Throne would be good. Unknown for him Tzeentch sorcerer Gararath had been scheming revolution on Helion 3. Part of it was getting heretical books containing information which would help sorcerer to increase his already god-like powers. By weird chance of luck Ratheol was already there looking for said book with 2 of his companion guarding when the team of cultist's arrived...

So when cultist's came around the corner the paranoical Rafus who had been carrying his shotgun opened fire sending 8 bullet toward cultists. To no avail. Distance meant whopping -80 penalty on semi 2 mode...Reckless Mikavael decided waiting behind stone wall's was not for him.

The fact his best(and only) gun was laspistol might have something to do with this ;-) So he sprinted out and started to move around corner trying to outflank. Leader of cultists, three hand mutant, opened fire with his autogun. Stream of bullet's went forward ripping books and painting from walls and also hitting Rafus several time though stone walls protected from most of harm. Gave nice warning though.

Beastmen and Tobius(with his great hammer) ran toward house. Tobius using barrel's to cover him, beastmen being too reckless. Not much of harm though. Rafus decided he didn't have time to reload his shotgun so grabbed his sword and heavy sword and prepared to defend the door with his life.

Mikavael sprinted around the corner and without one of the cultist's even having time to realise he was there Mikavael striked with his long fighting staff straight to cultist's head stunning him. Alas he didn't have time to finish when leader of cultist's turned around and charged in chainsword(remember 3 handed ;- ) screaming. Straight to left arm nearly cutting it out.

Naturally Mikavael blacked out. Beastmen meanwhile charged straight to door striking furiously at Rafus who with his twin-blade and superior skill managed, just about, block beast's attacks and even stroke back stunning the beastmen. Tobius activated drug dispenser's and got huge boost of speed(speed 8!). However little help when Rafus blocked all attacks from Tobius who was too weak to wield his hammer at full strenght.

At this point Inquisitor decided he could not find the book in time and this was getting too dangerous. Ordering Rafus pull back he opened fire with bolt pistol sending Tobius to ground. He also fired at women cultist running toward who fell to ground abodomin ripped apart hide out of sight.

Finishing Tobius did not took long and Inquisitor stepped out of building and shot women again taking him unconcius. Things were looking good except for one thing...Beastmen woke up charging madly at him. Ratheol was helpless and he was hit several time's and almost blacked out(for all fairness he should have gone out. I was really lucky there!).

He just about managed to pull out and Rafus charged in. This won him enough time to heal most critical damage so again Rafus pulled out and beastmen staggered out pierced by bolt pistol stunning beast again. However leader of cultist's came again first emptying clip at Inquisitor, with little luck, and charging at.

First strike Inquisitor quickly blocked and stroke back forcing leader to back off but second attempt hit straight to Inquisitor's left leg cutting straight through and Inquisitor fell to ground falling unconcious from bleeding(he actually was still in game with crippled leg but couldn't stop bleeding before injury total reached half the toughness).

At this point it looked like Inquisitor would be captured by cultists or killed! However thankfully(for me in my GM role) Rafus started to fight with even more ferociously charging into leader and hacking him unconcious in matter of time. That pair of sword was incredibly deadly at his hands!

Beastmen managed to wake him quickly enough and charged in but determined Ratheol blocked all attacks without even sweat coming and return attacks were too fast, too furious and too skilled for beastmen to stop and 3 successive strike at chest took him finally out(yes the damn thing is that tough. I couldn't get more than 1 location injury level even with bolt pistol more than few times and with sword(or heavy sword) never!).

At this point two remaining cultist who had done little during whole incident except shoot few odd shot's at my warband decided they had got enough(both failed LD test we made them to take or they would run out. We felt this is justified as they had just seen 2 cultist, their leader and beastmen all taken out...) and they quickly legged for it leaving Rafus lone warrior who was concious.

Had blast playing game. However result was far from what I had antipiciated(I had expected atleast 2 warrior from my band survive as I felt they were that good compared to mere cultists) so my initial plans on how campaign would go are highly inaccurate. I had planned that next game would be game where one of the warriors(hopefully Mikavael) would track cultists while other would take the other (assuming someone was hurt a lot) into hospital.

This would have been game where goal was to avoid being detected while staying aware of where cultist's were going. If this would have been succesfull 3rd game would have been Inquisitor storming their hideout and learning about sorcerer and getting headstart. However with 2 member seriously hurt it didn't seem likely last one would go hunting so guess Inquisitor won't get ahead warning about rebellion.

They will definetly go to hospital with Mikavael having nearly entire arm off and Inquisitor having leg gone or almost gone. Next decision is wether to get bionic's or not. Problem would be remodelling required. Not hard to do in case of Inquisitor as his coat cover's leg's so easy imagine mechanical leg but Mikavael is harder case as he is made from srg. stone.

Hmmm...Where I could get mechanical arm. Or he simply has to learn to live with crippled arm. Anyway that's the start of campaign. Can't wait for second installement.
