Squats
Squats are the descendants of the humans who settled the mineral-rich worlds surrounding the galactic core. Their bodies changed and evolved over thousands of years to adapt to the high gravity, hight pressures of these worlds. They are a highly technological race, more so than the Imperium, whose belief in machinery is archaic and mystical, and whose technology is kept intact by constant ritual which has lost its apparent technological obviousness. Hence Squats have access to more rare and exotic weaponry than most other races, including the Eldar. The Squats are a proud and noble race, not to be wronged. Their technological abilities are in high demand, and often Squat Engineers will hire themselves out to the highest bidder. Sometimes clan warlords and elders will send some of their men out on expeditions to prospect for minerals, or find new technologies. More often than not, however, most Squats encountered are Pirates, looting imperial and alien vessels alike, for glory and wealth.
Movement: Because of their short stature and legs, Squats aren't as fast as humans. As a result they reduce their Walking, Evading and Running Movement Rate by 1 yard and their sprinting Movement Rate by 2 yards.
Due to their stout physiology and the fact that they're used to hauling heavy objects a Squat can drag something at a rate of 2 yards per action instead of only one.
Special Abilities: All Squats have the True Grit, Stubborn, and Decisive Fighter ability. Also any Squat may take the Technician Special Ability.
Squats may never be psykers. Only the oldest Squat (which are called Living Ancestors) may be Telekinetic Wyrds, to represent their extreme age, Squat Wyrds reduce their weapon skill, ballistic skill and strength by 3D10 and their initiative by 2d10. (This is just a guideline, or in case you need to generate a Living Ancestor Quickly). They never have Demonology powers.
Equipment and Professions: Squats may take any profession except for Assassin, Daemon host, Ecclessiarchist, Space Marine and Inquisitor. Simply replace the profile with the one above and add the special rules.
As Squats are a highly technological race they will always have access to Rare Equipment regardless of the limitations of the profession they have.
Note that although Squats may take the Adeptus Mechanicus Professions, they aren't actually members of the Adeptus Mechanicus, but Squat Engineers, who have the same skills, but a more pragmatic view of technology.
