New Voyager DEMU sets at Poole sidings.

New Virgin trains, 220006 Clyde Voyager and 220002 Forth Voyager at Poole sidings.
The two four car Virgin sets rolled into Poole across Poole high street level crossing at approximately 07:35.
I watched them arrive across Poole high street level crossing, as this rather shiny looking pair of class 220 Voyagers rolled past I noticed just how much space there appears to be above the bogies which themselves seem to be of a rather interesting minimalistic design. The other noticeable thing was the noise, or rather the lack of it.
The train passed down the Up line into Poole station, heading for the sidings between Sterte Road and Poole Stadium, the crossing gates lifted and I was off like a shot, a few minutes later and I was grabbing these shots from the public footpath that runs alongside the Poole sidings and the concrete footbridge that crosses above the sidings and mainline tracks.

The class 220 Voyager 4 car sets are the fixed (non-tilting) version of the Voyager design, they are powered by a 750hp diesel engine under each coach providing excellent acceleration characteristics, with a pretty good power to weight ratio which should make these units reasonably economical to run.

The Forth & Clyde Voyagers shown here were stabled at Poole sidings in readiness to form the mornings Poole to Newcastle train.

For anyone modelling Virgin Voyager sets I would advise checking out roof detail, paying special attention to weathering and exhaust blackening of the coach roofs.
