Photographs of road rail excavator at Hamworthy Station.
O&K road rail excavator/crane with rail trailer and hydraulic rail clamp for handling lengths of rail, this vehicle was delivered in error to Hamworthy Station by road on a flatbed lorry to assist in replacement of a damaged point. It arrived at about 6pm on 8th February 2002 and was photographed at 10:30am on 09-Feb-2002 standing in Hamworthy Station car park. The roadrailer was not actually used as there is no access point from road to rail at Hamworthy Station, the machine should have been delivered to Lower Hamworthy where the level crossing provides road to rail access from Poole Harbour Commission land (Poole Ferry Terminal) where the replacement crossing components were situated.

The control/display unit is located in the cab giving audible and visual warning to the operator when load limits are being approached and stopping the machine from handling excessive loads which could cause the machine to become unstable. The SLI units are manufactured by a local company located in Poole.
