Exterior Views of branksome Signalbox

History

Branksome signalbox was built by the LSWR and opened along with Branksome Station on 1st June 1893. The station is still in daily use by Waterloo - Weymouth services.

Branksome Signalbox is still in daily use (April 2003) but has been earmarked for closure and demolition when the Dorset Coast Resignalling Scheme is completed and the new Bournemouth Signalling Center takes over control of the area.

Img 3:West side of Branksome signalbox from platform 1. The 15 MPH speed restriction is for the diverging connection to Bournemouth Traincare Depot.

Img 4:Junction controlled by Branksome box. The lines diverging to the right now provide access to Bournemouth Traincare Depot which was built in 1967 on part of the original 1874 S&D locomotive shed site and 1930s S.R. carriage sidings which were used to store stock for Bournemouth West services.
