Adams, Nick (1932 - 1968)
American film and television actor, born Nicholas Adamschock in 1932. He is best known for his role as Andy Griffith's side-kick in No Time for Sergeants, and the title character in the 1959 television series The Rebel. Adams was also in several B-horror and sci-fi flicks, including Die, Monster, Die with Boris Karloff and the Godzilla movie Monster Zero, as well as the episode "Fun and Games" on the original Outer Limits television series. He was a friend and former roommate of James Dean and, like Dean, was rumored to have supported himself during his days as a struggling actor by working as a gay male prostitute. Adams committed suicide in 1968.
Note: Nick Adams is also the name of a character in a series of short stories by Ernest Hemingway.
