The 104 Recce battalion was as followed organised:

The main task of the batallion was to recce, bring out surveillance and to guard areas, military sites and routes for the commander of the 1st Netherlands Armycorps.

The recce task was to inform the commander on intelligence information on the enemy, their movements, locations and their strength (how many men, what kind of weapons and in which state of battle?)
The commander also wanted to know everything about the natural and non-natural parts of the battlefield, its usability (mainly to see if tanks could use this part of the battlezone).
Rivers, swamps, railways and so on will force the enemy (and our own troops) to use certain routes.

Guarding and surveillance duties to protect our troops in advance of the battle, after retreat, and to give higher commanders more time to prepare for counterstrikes.

The batallion is simular to the 103 recce batallion.
