Ricki Lake's 24-hour labor at luxury birthing center.
Takl show queen Ricki Lake went through a grueling 24 hours of labor to give birth in an unorthodox New Age birthing center.
Ricki had a son - Milo Sebastian Sussman - on March 22. The new born weighed in at a healthy 8 lbs., 40z., but it was a long, tough road for the petite brunette.
Ricki, 28, and her hubby, Rob Sussman, were at home in New York City when she realized the baby was on its way.
"Her water broke on Friday morning, March 21," says an insider. "She rushed to the hospital and was placed in a special birthing center." But RIcki was in labor until the next morning.
Ricki wanted to give birth in the birthing center at St. Luke's Roosevelt Hospital rather than a traditional delivery room.
"Ricki's room in the birthing center was more like a luxurious hotel suite than a hospital room." says a source. "there is a huge, comfortable bed - not a delivery table."
"And the woman can have the father, grandparents, other family and friends in with her as she goes into labor and actually gives birth.
"The mother's room includes a Jacuzzi, a rocking chair, soft lighting, plush carpeting and an armoir.
"There is a wonderful view of the Hudson River, and even music."
Women are also incited to bring their facorite foods and beverages to the birthing center. "Ricki brought along a lot of Gaterade," says the source.
