You have joined the cast of The King of Queens, playing the sister of Kevin James's Doug. Tell us about your character, Stephanie.
She's very much a loudmouthed New Yorker--much like what I see on my talk show! She's very opinionated, very fun. She's a gym teacher--and heterosexual, I might add. It's just been such a great time. I love that Kevin James. I have a little thing for him. My husband [Rob Sussman] knows about it--it's healthy.
You have lost more than 100 pounds from your weight high point. Do you still get insecure about your body? I always want to lose more weight. I always see the flaws. But I'm trying to change that. I'm a mom. I have a 3-year-old son, Milo, and I don't want him to hear me talk negatively about my body. I fell like that's so unhealthy, so I try really hard to like what I see when I look in the mirror.
If you were to quit being an actor and a talk-show host, what would you do? Oh, there's no question. I'd be a midwife.
A midwife?
Oh yeah. I used a midwife with my son, and in May I assisted for the first time at a birth. I'm going to get my labor-support certification, and then I hope to go to school to become a midwife. Natural childbirth is an incredible thing.
You said that when you got pregnant, you knew the day after; and when you met your husband, you fell in love at first sight. Do you have some kind of witchy intuition?
Oh, my God, I wish! Actually, a psychic did tell me I have abilities, but I don't know if I believe it. I think there is such a thing as having an intuitive side. I knew I was having a boy. I knew the second I saw my husband that I wuold marry him. He, of cource, knew that he would sleep with me.
