General CZ52 info on Brno,Stamp marks,History...

The cz52 is a short roller locked designed pistol built for the M4 round in 7.62x25 mm.Designed by Jan Kratochvil and Presne Strojirentsvi built it at uhersky Brod in Moravia,its very similar in lockup to that of a MG42 rifle built  in germany,These models are marked RID,Other post war codes included AYM,tgf and she. none of these other than rid has been found on the cz52's though.And in 1952 on May 17th the Czech army adopted and accepted this pistol for its troops,as for Stampings a military pistol can be identified by the crossed swords stamped on the frame,The army contract had been finished by 1954 by them completing the orders given for a strong powerfull parkerized pistol,these trials started in 1948 sometime with 7 protypes being tested some in 9mm as well with not one of the early styles being accepted,The Bohemian Arms Factory known by now as Ceska Zbrojovka put all its push on the cz52 in 7.62x25mm.The 1951 testing shows that it failed so back to the drawing board and changes were made to improve it again.In 1952 they had suceeded in theyre cause gaining the acceptance and then put at least 200,000 pistols in the militarys hands.exact number is unknown but some models that bear no army marks and are blued have been issued to the police units though which tells me that theyre were more made on top of the army contracts.

Stamping Marks,Important Meanings....................
On most CZ52's i've seen were all marked with the following stampings:
RID = brno moravia built
VOZ = a rearsenaled pistol with the year of rework stamped on it as part of a 1970's era program putting them in service again.
CROSSED SWORDS = denotes its an army pistol
CIRCLE WITH T INSIDE OF IT on chamber = tested and proofed
Z stamping on frame near trigger = retrofitted decocker safety
some early ones had a problem of firing a round with a worn notch in it,hence the retrofit.
52 to 55 = the year the pistol was built
CAI.st.albans.vt = Century arms imported pistol,by the way if you DO NOT have the Z stamp mark,century will retrofit it free and ship it back to your dealer ,free.you must however pay the frieght and fee to them though to make it a safe shooter.early worn decockers can be very hazardous when using.
INT OR INTER.co = interarms compay import and they will not honor the retrofit. so call century to order the new decocker.

The dot on the top of the slide theory........................
so far these dots are supposedly said to tell how bad  or how accurate or how good the shape of the pistol was when shipped in for rework or rearsenaling,no one knows for absolute sure on this so its still a mystery................

DECOCKER SAFETY INFO..................
look for a Z stamp mark on either side of the trigger gaurd
this tells you that yes you have a new safety installed that is able to decock without the pistol going off,the older ones would wear and the notch when worn and used would sometimes fire a round off,these are safe to carry in a condition 1 with one in the chamber and safety up in the on position.to use simply push the safety down ,then the notches will line up and you are set to shoot.pushing upwards all the way on the safety will decock the pistol dropping the hammer down.
