This is a group shot of drivers who attended the 1st Annual Living Legends of Dirt Reunion at Lavonia, Georgia on Saturday May 13, 2000.

(5/13/2000) LAVONIA, GEORGIA

The 1st Annual "Living Legends of Dirt Reunion"...a get together of some of the best racers the south had to offer...took place on Saturday May 13, 2000 at Lavonia, Georgia. The National Vintage Racing Assoc...the South Carolina Chapter...combined forces with the Georgia Automobile Racing Hall of Fame Assoc. to present what turned out to be a great day of bench racing and a vintage race car display...and then later that evening they converged on the Lavonia Speedway for an evening of vintage car racing.

Lavonia, Ga. has for years been a strong hold for auto racing with it's 3/8 mile dirt track on the outskirts of this beauitful little town. Lavonia Speedway...lots of history has been made here. For sure...Lavonia is a racing town as several old time racers reside in the area of Lavonia and nearby surrounding towns. It was the perfect location for the first and hopefully just the beginning of a union between two vintage clubs for the betterment of vintage auto racing.

The welcome mat was put out for JIMMIE'S OLD TIME RACING...and we're happy we decided to make the 8 hour drive as we spent a great day in Georgia. Everyone made us welcome...especially the Chastian's, the Roach's, Roy Parker and all the rest. It was nice renewing friendships with Mike Bell and Ken Paulsen...and we even ran into Jerry Vaughn who we had met several years ago in Pennsylvania at a vintage meet there. JIMMIE enjoyed meeting some of the racer "names" he's heard about and read about in the south...and Herman Wise's appearance really made the day.

A special thanks has to go out to Tri-County Chevrolet who sponsored the event and also to the "announcer" for the day...Have-a-Tampa's Jimmy Mosteller. The hard work in organizing the event was well worth it...everyone seemed to have a great day.

For more photos from this great event please go to page 2. And...from JIMMIES...we say "thank you folks...for the southern hospitality shown us while in Georgia".
