Tom Getginby
Brock Planning
Dear Mr. Getginby,
I am very disappointed on the lack of action
taken by our council pertaining to the very disturbing and important
environmental issue regarding Pefferlaw Peat Products (Bloom Makers
Soils Inc.) entering the EP zone of the Wilfrid Bog. Having already
written council on August 4, 1999, the lack of action on this matter
displays an outdated policy regarding environmental issues within the
Township of Brock.
The upholding of the zoning bylaw on this
property is not a decision that should be determined by any one or
more members of our council. Brock Township Council is stuck with the
responsibility of upholding the constitutional right of the citizens
of Brock, to enforce this bylaw and show all others who may be
planning a similar assault or contravene to our standing bylaws, that
this sort of breach to our municipal policies and directives will not
be tolerated.
The September 20, 1999 schedule for this topic to
be discussed at the Brock Council Planning meeting will not be soon
enough and is totally unacceptable. With a major assault to the 18
year regenerated area of the bog this past weekend and the removal of
peat observed and photographed on Friday, August 27, 1999, it is
without doubt that by this date, there will be little left to
protect. As a citizen of this township, I am respectfully requesting
that this matter be dealt with immediately, without delay and that
our council enforce the zoning bylaws applying to this property. This
is far too important an issue to be delayed any longer.
