Dietrich & Wilhelmina Offermann
_______________________________________________________________
Dietrich came to the U.S. from Hanover, Prussia. We know that he had other family members living in Monroe County: a younger brother Peter (born about 1842, died 3/17/1933), and a younger sister Anna (born about 1840). There may have been another sister Katherine who died at a young age. It does not appear that either of their parents came to the U.S. Dietrich enlisted in the Union Army, the 43rd Regiment, Company A, Illinois Volunteers at Belleville, Illinois, in 1861 and was discharged August 24, 1864 in Arkansas. After the war, he returned to Monroe County, Illinois, and bought land near Renault. He married Wilhelmina Koenemann on April 5, 1867. They had seven children, only four of whom survived to adulthood.
Wilhelmina and her parents and older brother and sister came to the U.S. from Prussia in 1850, when she was an infant, and they settled in Monroe County, Illinois.
