To Be Three
It must be hard when you are three
Trying so hard to be and see
Playing with things you know you shouldn't
Telling your Mom and Dad you wouldn't
Locking a door here and there
Not really thinking or giving a care
From the time you get up till you go to sleep
Being mischievous but also so sweet
Those tiny little fingers getting into trouble
Wondering if when your older it will double
All your I want this and I want that's
How about a dog, how about a cat
I want candles on my cake
Why can't I ask her if they are fake?
The things they learn, say and do
Can make you happy, but also sad too
That tiny little smile upon their face
Can brighten up any old place
Their kisses and hugs they share with you
Makes it all worth even the bad times too
Their faces seem to reflect the love within
They seem to glow when they know you love them
