A poetical jazzy landscape . The music is crawling
its way towards the listener.
It's a touch of early Tom Waits, some of the
excellent and moody
Chet Baker, 50s beat poetry with Jack Kerouac
as a close reference and mostly
some of their own flavour and spices. On the
1:03 long track seven they even get
a bit bluesy and gospel sounding.
Track 11 "Staten Island for two" bear a clear
resemblance to the mood that
Tom Waits creates on his "The Heart of Saturday
Night" album.
It's hard to say what songs I prefer the most
on this album, but as a whole it's an
excellent album.
I am talking the talk and walking the walk.....

Reptilica: Nurse
Lens Records
Give me more!. They creates a hot boiling
cocktail of noise, tape loops,
"jumping" guitars and distorted vocals, so lovely
and just unique.
They are building up and "down" every track in
such a clever way, it's
climax in every sense of the world.
Oh listen to track seven "Pioneer", a killer!
I probably could have thrown in a couple of names
of groups that could fit into the picture
as a comparison but they stand to much on their
own feet, so I just have to say:
"reptiliciously good ".
One of the best records from the year 2000.
Rowan: Grandfather's Horse
Some very nice traditional gaelic music. It's
flute, bodhran, whistle, banjo, guitars and banjos.
Always when I listen to traditional timeless
folk music from those parts of the world I want to
set my feet down on the British Isles and take
a long walk up in the hills crossing the moors.
They have managed to create some strong gaelic
associations eventhough they are based in the
US a long distance from their roots in a geographical
sense, but never far away in heart felt
emotions . The music should be for the people,
music should be shared. Let's dance....
The title gives a strong association about history
and it's importance, never forget your roots,
and your place in history. Progression is simply
the strong will power of each individual
human being, supported by his "supporters".
Rotten Apple:Rotten to the core-cd
Well it's not everyday you get the opportunity
to listen to a cd from South-Korea, and especially not if you
live in Trondheim, Norway. These boys play straight
hard hiting power rock. Not very original in it's approach,
but eventhough some charming guitar treatments
makes it quite enjoyable. Sometimes power-rock/metal could
feel good for loosing up for some of your aggression.
Take some punshes into the air, try to hit a face you hate.....
Let me stop before my inner self gets to exposed!
We are all rotten to the core just being given
the right circumstances...
Lorelei Sabina: of lore and lies
After a third listening it's still hard to get
a good idea of this recording. The twistedness following
in every track has charm and appeal, it's
dreamy so dreamy, just listen to track 7 when the rain
is coming down. There is some very strong tracks,
but also some that you are likely to forget real
soon. No doubt it's a complex recording with
a lot of layered elements that need to be unveiled.
Give the record time..
Experimental post rock with goth flavour.

German prog-rock that makes a difference. In the
good tradition of prog-rock you have
some long tracks, and also some tracks that function
as small interludes. Thomas Thielen
has a very charismatic voice that you really
learn to praise in a track like "Discussed".
The music is shifting and sometimes building
itself up to a chaotic inferno and then all of a sudden
they music goes over to a quiet and more relaxed
mood.
The diversity, instrumental madness, sharp and
truely beautiful synth sounds and Thielen's voice
makes this album a skilled masterpiece. It rises
above much of the other prog-rock I have heard
because they dare to reach out and integrate
other elements into their music.

Seven: If you want to play
A four track Ep that really deserves some attention.
The duo Annette Gil and
Ole Tom Torjussen comes from Norway.
It's their first release.
It is combining some power chord rock with some
sudden laidback pauses in the
middle of the songs, giving it a interesting
and unpredictable edge that gives the
cd more than just a straight rock feeling.
Annette Gil has a nice voice that fits the music
good. I like track 1 the best, mainly
because of the distortion-vocals, a real addicting
catchy tune.

Shrinking Violet: My most imaginary
Five tunes with a very naivistic approach, four
young kids with a layer of innocence around them have really made a memorable
cd. The vocals is very soft and friendly, you are being swept into a world
of good honey sweet pop tunes with harmonic backing vocals.
They are fresh, not been run down by big record
companies and totally destroyed.
What I miss with the cd is that it's to much
the same, not much experimentation, but I guess it comes with the age and
a higher degree of self-confidence.
My favourite must be song five "hush",
very catchy guitarplay and very nice women voices.
Skinstatic: You know I love it. -CDR
I am waiting for a full album, this 4 tracks was
promising. The opening "Colliding" is
haunting, the second track is more of a downer,
refrains with "oh oh you know I love it when
your down.." is not so nurishing, the two last
tracks brings the album back to where it began.
The music is floating , it's music that
was just meant to be, it lives it's own way.
If having to categorize, indie with some cross-over
goth influences.

Stalking Horse: Half in shadow
The three songs on this Ep really didn't do it
for me. Very little variation. Very polished
strait heavy with no originality what so ever.
Boring guitar play together with some
"obvious" drum machines and a Scorpions sounding
vocal.
Boring, that's the key word, I almost felt asleep
after listening to this Ep that only plays
for 11 minutes and 46 seconds, and that's what
really counts at the end, when do it end.

Stewed Tomatoes:Alive and well
The sound is very hollow sounding, it's surely
a garage edge to this recording, especially track 3
called E=MC2, a rough track. Track 4 is quite
the opposite, very slow and peacefully accompanied
by some nicely droping rain. The second track
"Chronic" is my favourite, a beautiful "middle"
section with a nice refrain. Apart from track
2 the second part of this record is much better than the
first. I also have to mention the song "Slip
and fall" that really has something about it that gives it a
interesting edge, mainly because the vocal is
slower, not so shouting like on some of the other tracks.
This is a cd that is recommandable because of
a few strong songs, and not as a whole "concept".
Subimage: Our glass lake (volume 1 and 2).

Two very enjoyable cd's. Floating electro compositions
with a melancholic twist. The tracks are basically
all very long, but eventhough they never get
boring. Some songs seem to have much the same basic beats
building up each song, but the songs are building
themselves up to a climax of sensual orgasm, much like a
forplay. It's music for preparations to a higher
state, they are the actual foundation from where to build a
higher, and reach a more complex, consciousness.
After having listened to a lot of instrumental
electro compositional music cd's I must say that these two
cd's gave me a deeper and more profound dimension
to the description of everyday life than what I have
heard in a long time.
Suicide Parlor: Everything is nothing-CDR
Master-Slave relationship!
A very interesting mix of techno, EBM
and industrial. So many "insane" musical ideas. Twisted and distorted
voices, angry beats, lovely sharp and tormenting,
real musical torture. Stretch me down, hit me, be my Master.
It's no doubt who is the Master and who is the
slave.
This release has a lot of elements that a lot
of artist in this so called genres only could dream about integrating.
Thanks for having been such an excellent teacher
and guide in a unique musical landcape.
It's only one group with the same musical "insanity",
intensity and twisted industrial beats and that's Klandenstine Garage Band.

Sunday Munich:Pneuma-cd
A kind of under your skin crawling musical experience
is probably the best possible labeling.
The woman vocals bear a close resemblance to
a small child combined with the maturness and
musical wisdom of a adult and that's a frightening
combination. A haunting beauty of an album.
Twisted catchy EBM, goth and whatever close to
that feel and musical vein.
