Frequently Asked Questions
1. Is the Texas Chainsaw Massacre a true
story?
A: Kind of... Their was no psychotic cannibal
family, but there was a Leatherface, and no he didn't carry a chainsaw.
His name was Ed Gein. For a more detailed look at Ed Gein and pictures
please go here Ed
Gein
2. What was the budget of the movie?
A: There have been different prices going around,
but I believe it was $100,000
3. How did they do the "hook" scene?
A: There was a harness around "Pams" waist and
thighs. In the documentary they said it was extremely uncomfortable.
4. How long did it take to do the "dinner" scene?
A: A little over 3 weeks
5. Was the movie really filmed in Texas? Do you
know where?
A: Yes. I found a great site that's shows
pictures of the site today. Very interesting! TCM
Site
6. What color was the original poster? White or
Black?
A: The original poster was white. I believe
the black posters are imports?
7. Where could I find the original or reproduction
poster?
A: Your best bet is E-bay
. They always have reproduction posters for about $15.00 bucks. That's
where I got mine. The original is very hard to find. Every
once and a while it can be seen on E-Bay. It will cost you about
$50.00-$100.00+
8. Is it true the film originally had a X rating?
A: Yes. The MPAA (Motion Picture Association
Assholes) immediatly stamped the film with a X rating even before
seeing the film. Today in some countrys it is still banned, but most
are letting the film be re-released with a X type rating or censoring it
slightly.
Well, that's all of the questions I've heard lately in newsgroups, chat rooms, and what not. If you have a question that you want answered I'd be glad to give a shot at it. Thanks!
