My Son
Today you have left home,
as the man you are.
With wife, child, and suitcases,
The plane takes you afar.
My heart aches to tell you,
How much you've meant to me.
Hopefully I have showed you,
Over the years that were to be.
Its been a lifetime dream,
To see you happy, grown, and free.
And With pride and gentle love,
Youve given that to me.
I thank God for sharing you,
With me for such a short time.
And pray that you will also,
Have the sharing that was mine.
My heart is there with you,
And with your family,
My tears wash anew,
With hope for you three.
How much I will miss you,
Only our God truly knows.
But in each lonely teardrop,
My heart surely shows.
The house is so empty,
The rooms look almost bare.
But the hugs and hopes remain,
Yet with you everywhere.
I love you my dear son,
And always shall it be so.
No matter what you do,
No matter where you go.
May God watch over each of you,
And keep you safe and in his light.
May he always be there to protect you,
All day and all night.
