Countdown Begins

HISTORICAL PROOF FROM

AN INDEPENDENT SOURCE -- BASED ON

 EARLY *ANTI-ISMAILIAN* ARABIC SOURCES

The F-A-C-T-S about the _S_U_C_C_E_S_S_I_O_N_ OF ISMAIL HAVE NOT ONLY BEEN BORNE OUT by even orthodox historians and another recent ARAB publication, as written by Sheikh Abdullah bin al-Murtazal-Falakud-dawwar, adds INCONTROVERTIBLE SUPPORT to it --    [History of The Ismailis, by A. S. Picklay, Bombay, 1940/47- Introduction, pp. ii-iii].

The whole CRUX of Ismail's claim to Imamat lay in his BEING ALIVE at the time of his father's death; AND THIS HAS BEEN _P_R_O_V_E_D_ FROM VARIOUS REFERENCES BY HIS contemporaries AND HISTORIANS of later period from which it can be discovered THAT ISMAIL DIED 20--TWENTY YEARS __A_F_T_E_R__ HIS FATHER -- [Imam Jafar 'us-Sadiq [as], navali].**  -- [ibid. pp. 2].

Aga Khan...... in the quoted `Farman' made by him from Zanzibar on July 13, 1899. "Within ten, twenty or thirty years, the Ithna'ashari religion will be worn out. After 100 years the Ithna'ashari religion will not exist at all. It will not exist in Iran either because that  religion's base is not on AQ'L (the power of reasoning). Our religion's base is on AQ'L." (Translation is from the Book of Farmans in Gujarati).   [understanding ismailism - a unique tariqah in islam, by  akbaraLLy mehERally,  pp. 141]

What do these prophetic words, *Ithna'ashari  -- religion's _B_A_S_E_ is not on AQ'L* --  cited by the  late Aga Khan III, July 13,1899 [almost 101 years ago] at Zanzibar, East Africa,  MEAN?

well, let the Iranian news media & current situation in Iran, an  ithna'asharite country -- speak for themselves in this regard:

Qom hosts the tomb of Hazrat Masumeh (AS) sister of Imam Reza (AS). Many religious schools are located around the Hazrat Masumeh Sanctuary, dedicated to Islamic teaching. Students called "talabeh" from all around the world come to Qom to learn more about Islam.

having said that, let us now look at some of the historical facts which, for the most part will leave you with more questions than answers about ithna'asharism.

IMPORTANT DATES & POINTS TO NOTE

       Hzt. Imam Jafar as-Sadiq (as)  -- 83 AH (702)  -- 148 AH (765).

Omayyid khalif  Abu Jafar Mansur  -- 136--185 AH  -- poisoned Jafar-ibne- Muhammad as-Sadiq [says a world renowned ithna'asharite scholar, S.V. Ahmed Ali, pp. 94a].

Musa Kazim

       Musa Kazim     -- 128 AH  (745/6)  --  183 AH  (799).

       Harron al Rashid  -- 170 -- 193 AH -- poisoned -- Musa ibne Jafar (al-Kazim) [ibid.].

Sent him [Musa Kazim] as a prisoner from _ M_e_d_i_n_a_  to  B-A-S-R-A -- delivered to Isa b. Jafar b. al. Mansur, the G-O-V-E-R-N-O-R of BASRA.

That Governor later said, ?Either you send someone whom I can hand him over to or I -- [Isa b. Jafar [al-MANSUR], will set him free. I am troubled at detaining him [M usa Kazim]  .?  (ithna'asharite source: Kitab al-Irshad--The Book of Guidance, under, ?Imam Musa al-Kazim,? pp. 453-54).

Al-Rashid DIRECTED that he should be HANDED OVER by  Isa b. Jafar b. al. Mansur, [the GOVERNOR of Basra], AND TAKEN TO BAGHDAD, where he was later poisoned and died - [Irshad,  pp. 454-456].

Please note again that NOT a *single original source* had been cited by the Ithna?asharite compiler viz., Shaykh al-Mufid. We have his word only.

In the absence of such material or historical facts, I submit that most of the above had NOTHING TO DO WITH Musa Kazim either. Rather, it was _C_O_N_C_O_C_T_E_D_  in his name by his followers to lend more credence to his claim and cause, etc.

INEXPLICABLE SIMILARITIES OR

DUPLICATION OF MATERIAL FACTS  NOTED --

AS THE ARABIC HISTORY -- RECOUNTS HZT. IMAM ISMAIL'S WHEREABOUTS

for all practical purposes, Imam Jafar Sadiq?s SUCCESSOR was Hzt. Ismail, [pbuth], the eldest son, whom HIS FATHER had secretly sent away from Arabia.

After LEAVING _M_E_D_I_N_A_ Ismail was next seen in _B_A_S_R_A._

He left Basra and traveled further to Syria.

Khalif MANSUR of Arabia _W_R_O_T_E_ TO THE _G_O_V_E_R_N_O_R_ OF DAMASCUS  to send Ismail in custody to his court.

That Governor not only had high regard for IMAM ISMAIL [as], -- but also he became his follower.

Therefore, to save his spiritual master, he advised the Ismaili Imam TO LEAVE SYRIA for a few days.

After the Imam's departure from SYRIA -- the GOVERNOR  informed the Khalifa that the whereabouts of Ismail could not be found.

Please note that the events just mentioned re: Hzt. Imam Ismail [as], had already taken place -- almost 34 years BEFORE Musa al-Kazim?s purported tragedy and a fateful end.

Regardless, this is the truth and reality of the Ismaili history and Tariqah which we have just proved from both the  ?Ithna?asharite & non-Ismaili? sources.

However, among other things I believe, that was one of the main things, which, our late Holy Imam, Aga Khan III [as], had foreseen and alluded to July 13, 1899 at Zanzibar, East Africa, when He said, *Ithna'ashari  -- religion's _B_A_S_E_  is not on AQ'L.*

Anyway, here is the IRREFUTABLE PROOF -- however sketchy --  from various *anti-Ismailian* -- Middle Eastern sources, which, could not have been influenced by the Ismaili Imams [pbuth] and/or their followers under any circumstances.

We must also note that  if khalif Mansur succeeded in poisoning Hzt. Imam Jafar as-Sadiq (as) as noted by the Ithna?asharite source, then there was every likelihood that he would have also tried to capture Hzt. Imam Ismail (as), in order to eradicate his main problem and the Ismailian Imamate altogether.

009.032 Fain would they put out the light of Allah with their mouths, but Allah disdaineth (aught) save that He shall perfect His light, however much the disbelievers
are averse.

Whereas, Musa al-Kazim?s case was quite different, as we may deduce from the said Ithna'asharite source ONLY

We find that nothing significant had happened after Hzt.  Imam Jafar as-Sadiq?s (as) death. On the contrary, not only was khalif Mansur succeeded by 2 other sunni khalifs, but also one of his successors and Musa al-Kazim were on friendly terms, as shown by the said Ithna?asharite book under review. See Irshad pp. 450,453. It clearly asserted:

When al-Rashid set out to go on the pilgrimage and was approaching Medina, the leading men among them the inhabitants met him. Musa, b. Jafar, peace be on them, CAME OUT TO AL-RASHAD?S GROUP ON A MULE.

x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x

SOMETHING MYSTERIOUS HAPPENED

 SHORTLY  THEREAFTER --

That year al-Rashid went on the pilgrimage. He began it at Medina and there  he had Abu al-Hasan  Musa [imam], peace be upon him arrested.

It was reported that when he came to Medina, Musa [imam], peace be upon him,  received him with a group of nobles....... THEY HAD GONE TO MEET HIM and then Abul al-Hassan, [imam] --  peace be upon him, had gone to the mosque as was his custom. Al-Rashid waited until night and then went to the tomb of the Apostle of God -- [Irshad, pp. 453].

-------

It is clear from these 2 conflicting episodes that until his arrest -- Musa al-Kazim was a FREE man. He could and did move around freely and even associated with the sunni khalif, as just cited.

Hence we could conclude once again that from the time of Hzt. Imam Jafar as-Sadiq?s (as) death in 148 AH (765) to Musa al-Kazim?s own death in 183 AH (799) -- NOTHING SIGNIFICANT HAPPENED TO THIS ITHNA?ASHARITE IMAM.

However, the only unsubstantiated allegation pending against him at some point in time was --  that he was ?*_I_N_T_E_N_D_I_N_G*_ to bring division in the Holy Prophet?s [SAS] community? -- [Irshad, pp. 453].

despite this serious charge, the said ithna'asharite source still asserted that this pious imam spent all his time in prayer, PROSTRATION, meditation and seeking God?s forgiveness daily and nightly.

If that was true as asserted, then he would have had no time for any  worldly matters or even to gather an armed force against the Sunnite ruler or cause division within the muslim community then, as alleged.

in addition, he would have been UNABLE TO GUIDE  his own FOLLOWERS in religious matters, let alone any political ones.

as can be seen, this pious Musa al-Kazim was deeply engrossed in his personal salvation, as any discerning person can deduce from the said Ithna'asharite source.

So, with or without their imam's physical presence, these POOR ITHNA'ASAHRITES were WITHOUT SPIRITUAL GUIDANCE, regardless.

But more importantly, this very  Ithna?asharite source also tells us that the Governor of Basra not only exonerated him of this false charge but also he declared his piety openly in his court and to the Arabian ruler.

Nevertheless, one of the mind-boggling questions that arises at this point is, why  did khalifa al-Rashid follow Hzt. Imam Mowlana Ismail?s [as] ORIGINAL activities so closely and duplicate them later?  That is very strange if not incredulous, to say the least. or else, how often does history repeat itself within a generation or two in this manner?

In view of these irrefutable facts only, I submit that one of these two [ismailian & ithna'asharite] -- historical records must be declared FALSE. for all practical purposes, it had been FABRICATED in order to mislead the unsuspecting Shi?ite Muslims of all ages.

So, let us now go to that independent western source again, in order establish which one of these 2 accounts  was true and reliable?

IRREFUTABLE HISTORICAL FACTS

The F-A-C-T-S about the _S_U_C_C_E_S_S_I_O_N_ OF ISMAIL HAVE NOT ONLY BEEN BORNE OUT by even orthodox historians and another recent ARAB publication, as written by Sheikh Abdullah bin al-Murtazal-Falakud-dawwar, adds INCONTROVERTIBLE SUPPORT to it --    [History of The Ismailis, by A. S. Picklay, Bombay, 1940/47- Introduction, pp. ii-iii].

The whole CRUX of Ismail's claim to Imamat lay in his BEING ALIVE at the time of his father's death; AND THIS HAS BEEN _P_R_O_V_E_D_ FROM VARIOUS REFERENCES BY HIS contemporaries AND HISTORIANS of later period from which it can be discovered THAT ISMAIL DIED 20--TWENTY YEARS __A_F_T_E_R__ HIS FATHER -- [Imam Jafar 'us-Sadiq [as], navali].**

It is said of Ismail that after  leaving _M_e_d_i_n_a_ IN SECRECY, he was next SEEN IN _B_A_S_R_A_ where he suddenly came into PROMINENCE by his extraordinary powers in CURING their sick and the ailing. Fearing an exposure, he left BASRA, traveled further to Syria and settled down there, but not in complete security.

For, as soon as  KHALIFA  M-A-NS-U-R  [ruled from 136--185 AH, navali], who was then ruling over Arabia, CAME TO KNOW of Ismail's EXISTENCE, HE WROTE to the G-o-v-e-r-n-o-r of Damascus TO SEND Ismail in custody to his court.

But the Governor had not only high regard for __IMAM ISMAIL__ but had BECOME A FOLLOWER  of his. In order, therefore, to SAVE his spiritual master, he ADVISED THE  IMAM to leave Syria for a few days. When the IMAM WAS SAFELY AWAY, he made an ostensible search for him and WROTE to the Khalifa saying the whereabouts of ISMAIL could not be found.

[ibib. pp. i-iii & 1,2].

SOME MIND-BOGGLING FACTS  --

-- HISTORY REPEATS ITSELF --

Please  note that Musa al-Kazim followed an identical route starting from Medina. Although the 2 events were separated by at least 30--35 years, the accounts in both cases were identical in more ways than one if not the same.

More importantly, the anti-Ismaili Muslim historians  have asserted clearly that Hzt. Jafar as Sadiq (as) sent away his *ELDEST SON* FROM M-e-d-i-n-a.

And that the latter, IMAM ISMAIL [AS], was next seen in B-a-s-r-a -- where he rose to prominence. He was well known for his healing powers. It is said that He survived his Father by 20 long years.

Hence, if all of the above is true, as it seems,  then Ithna?asharism is nothing more than an innovation in Islam. It?s very questionable origins & history as just seen, had been copied from the original Ismailian sources before they were plundered and destroyed by them and other anti-ismaili muslims, as noted by various world renowned historians.
