rest assured, i am aware of what the Qur'an
says elsewhere about IBLIS,
the Jinn and his seed--ZURRIYYAT. however,
you've misunderstood
my question. please see the following explanation
in order to understand
the crux of the matter.
1.
All bowed but Iblis refused to do so, he waxed proud
AND _J_O_I_N_E_D_ the defiers.
[The Holy Qur'an - Translation and Brief Notes
with Text, by S. Abul A'la Maududi, pp.9].
[emphasis added, navali]
---
what led MAUDUDI to believe so and also what
did he MEAN
thereby? in short, Iblis _B_E_C_A_M_E_ _O_N_E_
_O_F_ the disbelievers,
as the Holy Qur'an asserts. He was _NOT_ a
disbeliever from before.
hence, what was he prior to his downfall?
2.
#49 The Arabic may also be translated: "They bowed down,
except Iblis." In that case IBLIS (SATAN)
_WOULD BE ONE_
OF THE ANGELS. But the theory of fallen angels
is not accepted
in Muslim theology. In 18:50, IBLIS is spoken
of as a Jinn. [The Holy
Qur'an - Translation and Commentary, A. Yusuf
Ali, pp. 25].
3.
#929. 6:100 -- Jinns. who are they? in 18:50 we are told that
Iblis was one of the jinns and it is *SUGGESTED*
that that is why he
disobeyed the Command of God. But in the passage
and other
similar passages, we are told that GOD _COMMANDED
THE ANGELS_
to bow down to Adam and they obeyed except
IBLIS. that implies that
Ibis __HAD BEEN__ OF THE COMPANY OF ANGELS
[ibid. pp. 319]
018.050
And (remember) when We said unto the angels: Fall
prostrate before Adam, and they fell prostrate,
all save IBLIS. HE
WAS OF THE JINN -- _KAANA_ MINAL JINN -- so
he rebelled
against his Lord's command. Will ye choose
him and his seed for
your protecting friends instead of Me, when
they are an enemy unto
you? Calamitous is the exchange for evil-doers.
----
what does the word 'KAANA' MEAN??? let me illustrate
it by giving a
QUR'ANIC example:
Pckthall:
002.034
And when We said unto the angels: Prostrate
yourselves before Adam, they fell prostrate,
all save Iblis. He
demurred through pride,
AND SO _BECAME_ A DISBELIEVER--
WA _KAANA_ MINAL KAAFIRIIN.
-----
although this is not an accurate translation
per se, it is good enough
for the purpose at hand. the Arabic word *MINAL*
had been left out
altogether, thus changing the context and
connotation of the
QUR'ANIC text.
regardless, consider these facts as they stand
in the Holy Qur'an only!
who was Iblis before he became a disbeliever,
Shaytan and OF THE Jinn?
remember that Allah Commanded the angels to
prostrate to Adam and
not a GROUP of angels, jinns AND THE DISBELIEVERS.
in other words,
did he become one of the angels before his
downfall? surely, he was not
OF THE jinns or disbelievers prior to it.
PICKTHALL:
a. 2:34 -- [IBLIS] -- AND SO *_BECAME_*
A DISBELIEVER-- WA *_KAANA_* MINAL KAAFIRIIN.
b. 18:50 -- IBLIS. HE _WAS_ OF THE JINN-- *
_KAANA_* MINAL JINN
-----
notice that the same word _KAANA_ has been
translated -- *BECAME*
-- and *WAS* respectively. compare this rendition
with Rashad Khalifa's
fanciful 'Translation_S_' and note the difference.
In both cases he has it
as -- *BECAME,* despite his clear distortion
of the verses under discussion.
also review Maududi's translation again and
look beyond his words:
All bowed but IBLIS refused to do so; he waxed
proud
and _J_O_I_N_E_D_ the DEFIERS [ Holy Qur'an
-
Translation and Brief Notes with Text, by
S. Abul A'la
Maududi, pp. 9]
--------
Meaning: Iblis was not OF THE jinn or Satan
before his downfall. he
BECOME [ONE] OF -- KAANA MINAL. therefore,
a correct rendition
will change the meaning of the verse like
so:
IBLIS. HE *_BECAME_* OF THE JINN-- *
_KAANA_* MINAL JINN
----
This rendition is more in line with the overall
concept of the Holy
Qur'an:
032.007 WHO MADE ALL THINGS GOOD
WHICH HE CREATED,
and He began the creation of man from clay;
032.008 Then He made his seed from a draught
of DESPISED fluid;
-----
both Iblis and mankind, etc., will be held
responsible for their own
actions because of the choices they made!
they had that freedom all
along.
on the other hand, if prostration was a mark
of respect only, as you assert,
then IBLIS would not have revolted against
God's Command. he still
believes in God and fears Him, according to
the Holy Qur'an.
however, when you disobey Allah -- you disobey
Him and will be held
accountable without a shadow of doubt, save
what Allah will. allow me
to explain this further.
why do you and most Muslims TURN TOWARDS &
PROSTRATE
TO KABAH in your daily Salah, when Allah has
commanded NO
SUCH THING in the Holy Qur'an per se?
on the contrary, He commanded the Holy Prophet
(SAS) and Muslims
to turn -- _THEIR FACES ONLY_ -- not their
whole bodies, towards
MASJIDIL HARAAM--QIBLAH at all times wherever
they maybe. in
other words -- make it a continuous *Zikr--Reminder--Remembrance*
in their heart, as in the following examples.
002.198 But, when ye
press on in the multitude from 'Arafat,
REMEMBER ALLAH--FAZKURULLAAHA -- by the sacred
monument. AND REMEMBER HIM--WAZ-KURUHUU --
as He hath guided you, although before ye
were of those astray.
062.009 O ye who believe!
When the call is heard for the *prayer*
of the day of congregation, haste unto *remembrance
of Allah* and
leave your trading. That is better for you
if ye did but know. 062.010
And when the *prayer is ended* then disperse
in the land and seek of
Allah's bounty, and *remember Allah* much,
that ye may be successful.
--------
call for *prayer* ----->
haste unto *remembrance of Allah* ---->
And when the *prayer is ended* ---->
disperse -- *remember Allah* much
-----
now consider your own actions in the light
of this Qur'anic evidence
only. would you still call this a good intention
-- if and when you
KNOWINGLY disobey Allah and do just the opposite?
if what you are
saying is true then kindly explain:
002.177 It is NOT righteousness
that ye turn your FACES to the
East and the West; but righteous is he who
believeth in Allah and
the Last Day ...
:
:
... and observeth **PROPER WORSHIP--AQAAMAS
SALAATA**
-- and payeth the poor-due. ....Such are they
who are sincere.
Such are the God-fearing.

HADITH RE: THE KABAH
The Holy Prophet said:
I WOULD HAVE DISMANTLED THE KA'BA :
Hadith by Sahih Bukhari.
Volume 1, Book 3, Number 128:
Narrated Aswad:
Ibn Az-Zubair said to me, "Aisha used to tell
you secretly a number
of things. What did she tell you about THE
KA'BA?" I replied, "She
told me that once THE PROPHET SAID 'O 'Aisha!
Had not your
people been still close to the pre-Islamic
period of ignorance (infidelity)!
I WOULD HAVE DISMANTLED THE KA'BA
and would have made two doors in it; one for
entrance and the other
for exit." Later on Ibn Az-Zubair did the
same.
---------------
well, here we have the Holy Qur'an and the
Hadith which clearly exclude
the Kabah from your daily worship altogether.
but yet, would you be willing to give it up?
Salaam,
Navali
