Scream No. 28

NAPALM DEATH [Napalm Death]

Represented by: Jesse Pintado

Napalm Death was somehow responsible for a kind of musical
revolution in the mid-eighties. Their brutal speed-core metal
was far beyond everything that had been presented before.
Since then the band has slowed down a bit, and with their new
album "Diatribes" the band presents another side of their
musical spectre. The album is a bit different from their
previous releases...
- In some ways yes, says Pintando, one of three Americans in
Napalm Death. It wasn't something that we planned, it just
happened, and it don't mean that it isn't as heavy as before
just because it's not as speed orientated as our previous
releases.
Barney has changed his vocals a bit for this new release...
- Yeah, and because he has this dark voice it works quite
well. Those parts where he's more like talking is very
special. Barney had wanted to do something like this for a
long time, so it was all up to him when he wanted to try out
this kind of vocals.
Allthough there are some experiments with the vocal lines, the
vocal-parts are mostly death-vocals as they always has been.
With three Americans in the band, Napalm Death has had some
problems with members beeing deported from England...
- Yeah, Mitch was deported not long ago, and that was the
second time it happened with him. But these problems has been
sorted out now. Both Shane and Mitch have their own
side-projects besides Napalm Death, Shane with Blood From
Stone and Mitch with Meathook Seed. Is this something that
they will continue doing?
- I supose so, I can't see any reason not too as long as it
doesn't interfear with our plans. I'm also starting up a
project of my own with some of the guys in Extreme Noise
Terror. It will possibly be something like just drums and
vocals, but very, very extreme. But it's with Napalm Death we
make our living so these side-projects is just for fun.
