My Dive In The Shower

I took a dive in the shower this morning.  It was very painful, yet funny at the same time.  How many things in life can you say that about?

I was bent over, facing away from the shower head with my head propped against the back shower wall, so I could wash my feed individually.  First the left foot.  Pick up the left foot, wash the left foot, rinse, put the left foot down, pick up the righ WHAM!!

It’s amazing how fast you fall in the shower!  If, for example, I was running through a field of grass and tripped I would have a few milliseconds to plan my fall.  Not in the shower.  It’s like the instant you realize you slipped, you and the shower curtain are all over the tub floor and the bathroom floor and water is spraying everywhere.  I didn’t even have time to scream an obscenity!

I smashed onto the edge of the tub with my right hip.  Take a moment and think about how much that hurt.  The tub is metal, did I mention that?

Now we’ll continue.  I couldn’t really remember what happened.  I mean, my foot slipped and POW I was on the tub floor and the curtain was down.  After bending around backwards and nearly suffering a spinal injury in order to turn the water off, my forensic genius guided me to the conclusion that I didn’t rinse my left foot off well enough.  Me idiot!  I personally don’t recommend doing this in the shower, especially at 6:15 a.m.

It was almost like an “elderly man incident”.  The old guy slipped in the shower and busted his hip.  You hear stories like that all the time.  I’m glad I didn’t bust my hip.  That would have been embarrassing:

“How did you break your hip?  Football?  Car accident?”
“No, I wanted to see if I could just jog in place in the shower, instead of buying an expensive tread mill.  I figured I could get my shower AND workout in at the same time.”

The only good thing slipping and falling in the shower seems to do is simulate, to a certain degree, bob-sledding  accidents.  I wonder if Olympic bob-sledders purposefully wipe out in the shower a few times a day to toughen themselves up?
