| Calvin Peeing On Ford, Chevrolet, And Dodge Truck Emblems |
|
Have you seen these stickers? On the rear window of most Ford trucks in Tulsa are stickers of what appears to be an angry, mischievous Calvin (from the comic strip “Calvin and Hobbes”) relieving himself on either a Chevy or a Dodge emblem. I'm sure if Bill Waterson (the creator of “Calvin and Hobbes”) saw one of these he would be thrilled. The same holds true for Chevy and Dodge trucks around Tulsa - stickers of Calvin taking a leak on the competitor's emblem. It seems that every truck I see has one of these stickers on it. Maybe these are standard manufacturer issue now? Or perhaps they are a dealer option? “We can apply a protective sealer to the paint on your new Chevy and a special undercoating for a modest price. We'll even throw in one of those 'angry Calvin relieving himself' on your choice of a Ford or Dodge emblem at no extra charge.” This is, without a doubt, the mark of a high class domestic truck owner. Stickers of this nature don't appear anywhere except on Chevy, Dodge, and Ford trucks. What's next?
Imports? Am I going to see a sticker on the back of an Izusu of an
angry Japanese version of Calvin (with slanted eyes and a Moe haircut,
wearing a robe) taking a leak on a Nissan emblem? What if this were
to appeal to owners of more expensive cars? Would we see a 'Calvin
peeing on a Mercedez-Benz emblem' sticker on the back of a BMW?
