Kathleen Widdoes (Emma Snyder)

Kathleen Widdoes joined the cast of the CBS daytime drama As The World Turns in November 1985, as farm woman Emma Snyder, a source of comfort and good advice for Oakdale residents. She received 4 Daytime Emmy nominations for her portrayal of Emma.

A veteran of stage, screen and television, Widdoes is no stranger to daytime drama, having had a long-running role as Rose Perrini on Another World and also appearing on Ryan's Hope.

Born on March 21 in Wilmington, Delaware, she completed her education there before coming to New York City to begin her stage career. She later attended the Sorbonne in Paris on a Fulbright Scholarship, where she continued her theatrical training.

Widdoes' Broadway credits include the Circle in the Square production of The Importance of Being Earnest; Neil Simon's Brighton Beach Memoirs; the revival of You Can't Take It With You; and Joseph Papp's production of Much Ado About Nothing, for which she received a Tony Award nomination. The latter production was also taped for television and broadcast on the CBS Television Network.

For Papp's New York Shakespeare Festival, she has performed leading roles in Hamlet, Measure for Measure, A Midsummer Night's Dream, As You Like It, Henry V, The Tempest and Richard II. Her other off-Broadway credits include the musicals The Beggar's Opera and Castaways. She won an Obie Award for Outstanding performance in Tower of Evil at CSC Repertory.

Among her films are The Group, Petulia, The Mephisto Waltz, Without A Trace, Savages, I'm Dancing as Fast as I Can, Sidney Lumet's version of The Sea Gull, The End of August, and Courage Under Fire.

On television, Widdoes played the title role in the PBS special Edith Wharton and has appeared on such dramatic series as Nurse, Kojak, Toma, The Secrets of Midland Heights, Oz and Law and Order. She co-starred with Tony Curtis and Susan Lucci in the television film Mafia Princess.

Widdoes is married, has a daughter and one grandson. In her spare time, she enjoys gardening and weaving. She and her family have a home just outside of New York City.
