Fiona Hutchinson (Gabrielle Medina Buchanan)
Fiona Hutchison reprised her role as fan favorite Gabrielle Medina Buchanan in May, 2001, having played the part from 1987-91. The scheming Gabrielle has returned to Llanview with a plan for payback against her former lover, Max Holden, but will her passionate feelings for Max interfere with revenge?
Hutchison was born to English parents in Miami, Florida and raised in Jamaica, West Indies and Columbia, South Carolina. She is a classically trained ballerina who began dance lessons at age four. She received a scholarship to The School of American Ballet in New York City before joining the American Ballet Theatre to perform professionally, training extensively with Natalia Makarova and Mikhail Baryshnikov.
When a serious injury forced Hutchison to stop dancing, she began modeling and acting. She made her acting debut in the television movie, "Mirrors," and went on to receive an Emmy nomination for the role of Jenna Bradshaw on the daytime drama "Guiding Light" and also play Celia Frasier on "As the World Turns." She has appeared in several films, including "Biggles," "American Gothic," opposite Rod Steiger, "Rage," "Something To Believe In," and the independent film "Prey of The Jaguar," with Stacey Keach. She also stars in the soon-to-be-released film "Everything's Jake" with Ernie Hudson.
Hutchison is also an accomplished theater actress. She has performed frequently with The New English Stage Company and was featured in the off-Broadway productions of Noel Coward's "Private Lives," and "Terra Nova." She co-starred with Tatum O'Neal in "A Terrible Beauty" at the Provincetown Playhouse in New York City, and also starred in the Essential Theatre Blah Blah Blah's production of "Naked From The Waist Down," written by her husband, John Viscardi. Most recently, she starred in the play "An Ideal Husband" at the Paper Mill Playhouse.
In 2000, Hutchison hosted the cable talk show "Tea with Fi" for the Romance Classics Network. She also writes a column "Tea with Fiona" for Upbeat Entertainment News Online, and is the Executive Vice President of Development for Nite Owl Productions, Ltd.
Hutchison resides in New York City with her husband and their two young sons, Hutch and Trevor.
