Tom Eplin (Jake McKinnon)
Tom Eplin created the role of the disreputable rogue Jake McKinnon on Another World in February 1985. In July 1999, Eplin brought his popular character to As the World Turns and received a 2001 Daytime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Lead Actor.
The actor, who was born on October 25, in Hayward, CA, studied with the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco and performed there in such productions as Bus Stop and Bent. He studied acting formally with Joan Darling and Alan Rich and has conducted his own acting seminars.
He has had guest roles on nighttime series including The Facts of Life, 240 Robert and Private Practice. His film credits include leading roles in Discovery Bay, Sunset Strip and Enchanted Evening. In addition, Eplin has produced a feature film, Delta Fever, and a television series pilot, Odd Jobs.
In 1995, Eplin was honored as Outstanding Actor at the Soap Opera Awards. He was awarded another Soap Opera Award in 1996 as Outstanding Scene Stealer. This year he was nominated again for Outstanding Lead Actor.
The actor, who pilots his own planes, lives on Long Island, NY.
