"The Man of Sin-the Anti-Christ" (II)
II Thessalonians 2:1-12

NOTES

"Day of the Lord"- a time of awful judgment.  Paul taught that day would not come until 2 things take place:
1. Apostasy   2. Man of sin is revealed
V. 5. Paul mentions that he had taught all of this to them when he ministered to them in person.
V. 6. Paul tells them that something/someone has been holding back evil in the world.  Only the Holy Spirit can hold back the rise of the Anti-Christ & total apostasy.
V. 7. The spirit of Anti-Christ is already at work in this world.
"letteth"- restrain.  The Holy Spirit will leave at the rapture.
V. 8. Then, the wicked One will be revealed.  But the Lord will destroy him at His second coming.
V. 9. Anti-Christ will have great power and do miracles.
More details:
A- inconspicuous beginning (Rev. 6:1-2)
B- makes a peace treaty with the Jews for 7 years (Daniel 9:27)
C- will be the head of a 10 nation confederacy. (Rev. 13:1, 17:12-13)  Europe will be united.
D- will eventually become the world ruler (Rev. 13:7b)
E- will break his treaty with the Jews (Daniel 9:27)
F- will kill God's 2 witnesses (Rev. 11:3-7)
G- tries to take the place of God-demanding worship (Matt. 24:15, II Thess. 2:4)
H- will be killed by Christ at Armageddon (Rev. 17:14, 19:19-20)
What will cause people to follow after him????
Possibly his being healed of a deadly wound. (Rev. 13:3-4)
What do we learn from all of this???
1. Don't underestimate the power of Satan.
2. Deception has always been the work of Satan.
3. I am grateful that I will not be under the Anti-Christ But that I am under Christ.
