Note Galatians 3:27</B></div> <div> <B>There are 4 words in the New Testament, which indicate that the Holy Spirit work occurs </B><B><U>simultaneous</U></B><B> with conversion.</B></div> <div> <B>A. </B><B><U>born</U></B><B> - John 3:5             B. </B><B><U>baptize</U></B><B>- I Corinthians 12:13</B></div> <div> <B>C. </B><B><U>abided</U></B><B> - 1 John 3:24        D. </B><B><U>sealed</U></B><B> - Eph. 4:30</B></div> <bR> <div> <B>Note: Romans 8:9</B></div> <div> <B>There are 4 accounts of believers speaking </B><B><U>languages</U></B><B> other than their </B><B><U>native</U></B><B> tongues.</B></div> <div> <B>1- Acts 2:1-8 & 3 fold sign from God was given on that day. </B><B><U>sound</U></B><B> from Heaven like a mighty </B><B><U>wind</U></B><B>.  This was a </B><B><U>strong</U></B><B> indication that the Holy Spirit had come.  Tongues of </B><B><U>fire</U></B><B> </B><B>- a visible sign. This was like the giving of the </B><B><U>era</U></B><B> on Mt. Sinai.</B></div> <div> <B>They were also speaking in </B><B><U>other</U></B><B> tongues.  What were they? </B></div> <div> <B><U>earthy</U></B><B> </B><B><U>language</U></B><B>.</B></div> <div> <B>2- Acts 10:43-46 These tongues were the </B><B><U>same</U></B><B> as Acts 2. Note Peter's report to the church leaders-- Acts 11:17-</B><B><U>same</U></B><B> gift.</B></div> <div> <B>3-  Acts 19:1-7- Paul meets 12 </B><B><U>disciples</U></B><B> of John the Baptist who had not heard of the Holy Spirit.  They received </B><B><U>same</U></B><B> baptism and the Holy Spirit.  Same word as Acts 2 & 10.</B></div> <bR> <DIV ALIGN="LEFT"></DIV> <div> <B>LESSONS</B></div> <bR> <div> <B>1- The Holy Spirit is the person who </B><B><U>leads</U></B><B> us to Christ, </B><B><U>baptize</U></B><B> us into the body of Christ, and </B><B><U>seal</U></B><B> us there until our earthly </B><B><U>body</U></B><B> are </B><B><U>exchange</U></B><B> for our </B><B><U>glorified</U></B><B> Heavenly bodies.</B></div> <div> <B>2- the </B><B><U>miracle</U></B><B> of Pentecost was </B><B><U>changed</U></B><B> </B><B><U>lives</U></B><B>.</B></div> <bR> <bR> <DIV ALIGN="LEFT"></DIV> <div> <B>HOLY SPIRIT</B></div> <bR> <div> <B>"The Main Work of the Holy Spirit"</B></div> <bR> <div> <B>Acts 4:13</B></div> <bR> <div> <B>NOTES</B></div> <bR> <div> The original disciples were a handful of _<U>misfits</U>___.  It is _<U>remarkable</U>__ that they turned the world _<U>upside-down</U>__ for Christ.</div> <div> What happened??  The Holy Spirit took complete _<U>control</U>__ of their _<U>lives</U>_.</div> <bR> <DIV ALIGN="LEFT"></DIV> <div> <B>BEFORE</B></div> <bR> <div> _<U>Judas</U>__ was gone.  The Lord told of His imminent _<U>death</U>__.  They were _<U>confused</U>_ (Thomas).  Then Peter _<U>denied</U>__<U>(3 times)</U>_ Him.  All of the disciples _<U>fled</U>__ for a while.  At the resurrection, they were _<U>surprised</U>__ at the thought of His _<U>body</U>__ not being in the _<U>tomb</U>_.  The night of the resurrection, they were _<U>hiding</U>_ out behind _<U>closed</U> doors for _<U>fear</U>_ of the Jews.  None of them were "_<U>big</U>___ _<U>shots</U>__" in the synagogue or the priesthood.  They were not _<U>wealthy</U>__, _<U>well-educated</U>_, or raised in a _<U>good</U>_ area.  They were _<U>impulsive</U>_, easily _<U>offended</U>_, and <U>moody.</U>  Yet, Jesus said that they would do _<U>greater</U>__ works than he.</div> <div>                                                                  John 14:12</div> <DIV ALIGN="LEFT"></DIV> <div> <B>HOW?????????          </B></div> <bR> <div> <B>AFTER</B></div> <bR> <div> 4 Huge Changes In Their Lives:</div> <bR> <div> 1- Their human _<U>frailty</U>__ were changed into supernatural _<U>gifts</U>__ and _<U>ability</U>_.</div> <div> Not only did they speak up, but they spoke other _<U>languages</U>__.  So _<U>clear</U>__ and _<U>accurateness</U>__ were the languages that it _<U>shocked</U>___ those that _<U>heard</U>_ it. They began performing _<U>miracles</U>__ under this new power.</div> <div> 2- fearful reluctance became bold _<U>confidence</U>__.</div> <div> 3- fears & intimidation became a sense of _numb ability__.  When told to be _<U>quiet,</U> they _<U>refused.</U></div> <div> 4- lonely feelings of abandonment became joyful _<U>precedence</U>__.  Their beatings only made them more _<U>determined</U>_.  (John 16) God kept his _<U>Word</U>__ and the _<U>disciples</U>__ were never the same.</div> <div> Questions:  Am I allowing the Holy Spirit to change my life?  _<U>Yes</U>_<U>(hopefully)</U>______</div> <div> If no, then 2 possible reasons:</div> <div> A- you don't have the Holy Spirit _<U>within</U>_.</div> <div> B- You're not <U> listening </U> to the Holy Spirit and you're not _<U>happy</U>__.</div> <bR> <DIV ALIGN="LEFT"></DIV> <div> <B>LESSON</B></div> <bR> <div> The Christian life is all about _<U>change</U>_!!!!!</div> <bR> <DIV ALIGN="LEFT"></DIV> <div> <B>THE HOLY SPIRIT</B></div> <bR> <div> <B>"The Filling of the Spirit"</B></div> <bR> <div> <B>Ephesians 5:18-21</B></div> <bR> <div> <B>NOTES</B></div> <bR> <div> The Spirit-filled life does not make _<U>sense</U>_ to a lost world.</div> <bR> <DIV ALIGN="LEFT"></DIV> <div> <B>I. (Stupid)</div> <div> Many may be <U>_</U><U>saved</U><U>_</U> but relatively <U>_</U><U>few</U><U>_</U> are <U>_</U><U>spirit</U><U>_-_</U><U>filled</U><U>_</U>.</div> <div> What <U>_</U><U>fuel</U><U>_</U> is to a <U>_</U><U>car</U><U>_</U>, the Holy Spirit is to the <U>_</U><U>person</U><U>_</U>.</div> <DIV ALIGN="LEFT"></DIV> <div> How Do We Get The Fuel Flowing????</div> <div> Ephesians 5 begins with 3 commands:</div> <div> A- <U>_</U><U>followers</U><U>_</U> God</div> <div> B- walk in <U>_</U><U>love</U><U>_</U></div> <div> C- walk as <U>_</U><U>children</U><U>_</U> of <U>_</U><U>light</U><U> </U></div> <div> It is the<U> _</U><U>will</U><U>_</U> of the <U>_</U><U>Lord</U> that we be <U>_</U><U>filled</U><U>_</U> with the Spirit.</div> <div> This command:</div> <div> A- in the<U> _</U><U>imperative</U><U>_</U> mood.</div> <div> B- in the <U>_</U><U>pure</U><U>_</U> form.</div> <div> C- in the <U>_</U><U>passive</U><U>_</U> voice.</div> <div> D- in the <U>_</U><U>presents</U><U>_</U> tense.</div> <bR> <div> Regularly, pray for Him to <U>_</U><U>guard</U><U>_</U> our <U>_</U><U>tongue</U><U>_</U>, our <U>_</U><U>emotion</U><U>_</U>, and our <U>_</U><U>will</U><U>__</U>.</div> <bR> <DIV ALIGN="LEFT"></DIV> <div> RESULTS OF THE FILLING:</div> <div> 1- it will affect our <U>_</U><U>speech</U><U>__</U>.</div> <div> 2- it will affect our <U>_</U><U>emotions</U><U>__</U>.</div> <div> 3- it will affect our <U>_</U><U>attitudes</U><U>__</U>.</div> <div> 4- it will make us <U>_</U><U>submissive</U><U>__</U>.</div> <bR> <DIV ALIGN="LEFT"></DIV> <div> <B>LESSONS</B></div> <bR> <div> 1- To have the Spirit's _<U>filling</U>_ and _<U>power</U>_, we need to keep _<U>short</U>_ _<U>counts</U>_ with God.</div> <div> 2- The Spirit-filled life will _<U>transform</U>_ a _<U>home</U>_ and a _<U>marriage</U>_.</div> <bR> <DIV ALIGN="LEFT"></DIV> <div> <B>THE HOLY SPIRIT</B></div> <bR> <div> <B>"The Overlooked Ministry of the Holy Spirit"</B></div> <bR> <div> <B>Acts 20:22-24</B></div> <bR> <div> <B>NOTES</B></div> <bR> <div> God is so good to us!!!!!!!    In what ways?????    He has provided:</div> <div> 1- _<U>Salvation</U>__          2- _<U>escape</U>_ from __<U>Hell</U>__</div> <div> 3- _<U>reservations</U>_ for <U> Heaven </U>    4- _<U>forgiveness</U>__ for _<U>sin</U>__</div> <div> 5- release from _<U>guilt</U>_     6- The _<U>Holy</U>_ _<U>Spirit</U>___ to live in us make right _<U>decisions</U>__.      9- The Spirit to help us _<U>concernment</U>_ right and wrong. 10- The Spirit to give us _<U>power</U>__ to __<U>overcome</U>_ _<U>temptation</U>_  11- The Spirit to give us _<U>joy</U>__ regardless of the _<U>situation</U>_. 12- The Spirit to help us _<U>sense</U>_ evil.   13- The Spirit to help us _<U>pray</U>_ when we don't have the _<U>words</U>__. 14- The Spirit to help us live _<U>worry</U>__-free   15- The Spirit to give us _<U>gifts</U>_ with which we can _<U>minister</U>_ others 16- The Spirit to give us _<U>power</U>_ and _<U>boldness </U>to <U>witness</U>__.</div> <bR> <DIV ALIGN="LEFT"></DIV> <div> <B>Yet, there is more!!!!!</B></div> <bR> <div> <B>***The Holy Spirit _</B><B><U>testifies</U></B><B>_ within each of us***</B></div> <bR> <div> <B>Two Examples</B></div> <bR> <div> 1- _<U>Paul</U>_ (Acts 20:22-24)</div> <div> Paul is going to go to _<U>Jerusalem</U> in spite of what he knows.</div> <div> What does he know??</div> <div> That _<U>bonds</U>_ & _<U>affliction</U>_ await him there.</div> <div> Who told him that????  The _<U>Holy</U>__ _<U>Spirit</U>__</div> <div> Was it true???  Acts 21:27-36</div> <div> The Lord does not always lead us to places of _<U>comfort</U>_.</div> <div> Paul had the right _<U>idea</U>__ of life.  He also had the _<U>confidence</U>_  and _<U>boldness</U>_ that comes from the Holy Spirit's _<U>testifying</U>_ ministry.</div> <bR> <div> 2- _<U>Stephen</U>_ -a _<U>layman</U>_ who served God.</div> <bR> <div> There is nothing wrong with _<U>qualification</U>__ for _<U>people</U>___ who serve in the _<U>church</U>___.</div> <div> He was picked to be a _<U>deacon</U>_.</div> <div> He was _<U>confronted</U> by some complainers.  But Stephen was so full of the _<U>Spirit</U>_ and had such _<U>Wisdom</U>_ that his _<U>critics</U>_ could not intimidate him.</div> <div> He reacted _<U>correctly</U>__ to criticism.</div> <div> He preached to an _<U>angry</U>_ crowd.  The scene got _<U>bad</U>_!!</div> <div> His response: _<U>praise</U> to God and _<U>forgiveness</U> to his murderers.</div> <bR> <DIV ALIGN="LEFT"></DIV> <div> <B>LESSONS</B></div> <bR> <div> <B>1- The </B><B><U>_</U></B><B><U>Soul</U></B><B><U>__-_</U></B><B><U>doubt</U></B><B><U>_</U></B><B>, </B><B><U>_</U></B><B><U>dedicated</U></B><B><U>_</U></B><B> Christian life will not </B><B><U>_</U></B><B><U>always</U></B><B><U>__</U></B><B> be an </B><B><U>_</U></B><B><U>easy</U></B><B><U>__</U></B><B> road.</B></div> <div> <B>2- An </B><B><U>_</U></B><B><U>obedient</U></B><B><U>__</U></B><B>, </B><B><U>_</U></B><B><U>Spirit</U></B><B><U>_</U></B><B>-filled Christian will </B><B><U>_</U></B><B><U>obey</U></B><B><U>_</U></B><B> regardless of the possible _</B><B>harm</B><B>__.</B></div> <div> <B>3- When we do the will of God, we feel </B><B><U>_</U></B><B><U>unbeatable</U></B><B><U>__</U></B><B> and </B><B><U>_</U></B><B><U>invincible</U></B><B><U>_</U></B><B>.</B></div> <div> <B>4- A layman can and should be </B><B><U>_</U></B><B><U>filled</U></B><B><U>_</U></B><B> with and controlled by the </B><B><U>_</U></B><B><U>Spirit</U></B><B><U>____</U></B><B> of God.</B></div> <bR> <bR> <bR> </td> </tr></table></body>
