Para-phrased State Laws regarding Bail Enforcement

This is what we're ALL up against at this point with states:
(Note: all below are paraphrased, not full wording of the laws in question)

Arkansas: Only licensed Private Investigator, Bondsman, or Law Enforcement may arrest fugitive. No felony record, 21 y/o, Notification with all info.

Arizona:
Licensing, Training. Out of state BEA's must contract with Arizona Licensed Recovery Agent for pick up. Must have permission of the fugitive to enter his home to arrest.

California
: Licensing, Training, 18 y/o, Notification within 6 hrs before arrest, no forcible entry. Must go through extradition procedure to transport out of state. Unless you are over 70 years old and have done Bail Enforcement for 30 years or more.

Colorado
: Training (we're in the process of being approved), Finger prints, no criminal record.

Connecticut
: Licensing, Training, Notification. criminal and financial background checks, no felony or bad credit. You may drive thru the state, "non-stop" with a prisoner if you don't have the license.

Florida
: Licensing, Residency, 18 y/o. You can be a runner for only one bondsman. You can not ID yourself as a BEA or FRA. Must be licensed in Fla. or… must be the bondsman who wrote the bond out of state.

Georgia
: 25 y/o, Must have gun permit, Registration, Post a bond, and Notification, Posses credentials.

Illinois
: No Commercial Bail State. Can not transport unwillingly, any person through the state.

Indiana
: Licensing, Residency, Testing, 18 y/o, no felony conviction in past 10 yrs, or 5 yrs have elapsed for misdemeanor conviction. Notification.

Iowa
: Licensing, Notification before hand Can NOT enter third party dwelling or use force against same.

Kentucky
: No Bail Arrest State without proper warrant. Commercial Bonding outlawed

Louisiana
: Same licensing requirements as for Bondsman.

Massachusetts:
(Still awaiting information. CALL FIRST!!!!)

Mississippi
: Licensing, Residency, 21 y/o, no felony conviction.

New Hampshire
: Training, Registration, Insurance ($300,000). Must notify Police. Notification.

New York
: 1 April 2001, Must have a $500,000 surety bond and be a licensed business.

Nevada
: Licensing, High school diploma, no felony record, Psychological exam, written exam, drug testing, training, police notification after the fact, unless using forcible entry. If using forcible entry, must notify police before hand. 120 Hours of training, approximately $3,000, and no set dates for classes due to numbers.

North Carolina
: Can be a runner for "a" Bonding company. Licensing, Training, Residency, 18 y/o.

Ohio
: Bail Enforcement Agents and Fugitive Recovery Agents are about to be outlawed. Must be a Private
Investigator or Bondsman meeting training requirements

Oklahoma
: Out of state hunter must be accompanied by Peace Officer or OK Lic. Bondsman.

Oregon
: No Bail Arrest state. Oregon Supreme Court abolished Common Law rights of Bondsman and Bail Enforcement Agents.

Rhode Island
: Notification. (We're still awaiting a copy of Legislation)

South Carolina
: Can be a runner for "a" Bonding company. Licensing, Training, Residency, 18 y/o.

South Dakota
: Must be licensed in State, or if from out of State, must be licensed by their home State
And show proof, as well as to notify local police before hand.

Tennessee
: Must present a copy of the warrant and arrest contract to Police.

Texas
: Must have permission from the Sheriff and… you must be a Private Investigator in order to
make the arrest. Must take fugitive before Magistrate before transporting out of state.

Utah
: Licensing, Training, Background, 21 y/o, Notification, Perform time as an apprentice, bondsman, or law
enforcement officer.

West Virginia
: Registration (2 yr), Residency, 21 y/o, Notification, work for Bondsman in state. Can not:
enter dwelling without permission of the occupants; arrest without written permission from the bondsman;
wear or carry badge…

Wisconsin
: Eliminating commercial Bail Bonding.
