GRIPHON MEDIA – A ONE STOP SHOP that will not disappoint

By Bill Murray E-Business Review

www.geocities.com/griphon.geoLooking for a very unique gift idea for that very special moment?  Have you considered a music video like those seen on MTV?  Or maybe your business or corporation needs a promotional or documentary in a hurry.  If so then consider Griphon Media for a moment.  Griphon Media of Red Deer, Alberta is one of those new genres of companies also known as “New Media Boutiques.” Here you can get it all done and at bargain basement prices without sacrificing the quality or professionalism found at the more traditional high-end media houses.  A “One Stop Shop.”

Griphon Media will digitize and encode your media in any format, and all you have to do is bring in your tape(s) of those memories that make life special: your wedding; an anniversary; a child's birthday, graduation etc.  For clients who need their content digitized and encoded, Griphon Media offers encoding services for all bit-rates and formats (RealMedia, Windows Media, QuickTime, MPEG, DivX, Mpeg-4, DVD or standard VHS tape. Any enjoyable moment can now be shared digitally with friends and family at reasonable prices. Or take it one step further and have a hybrid disk made which can include a combination of video, graphics, text, sound and links to your website.  Don’t have a website – Griphon Media will also make that for you.  Is your special event approaching and you have no footage or content.  Then Griphon Media also has one of the new Canon XL1-S 3-CCD cameras for your utilization.

In researching this business I was quite impressed with this small personable company, which by the way, consists of really just one person!  There are other people involved in the company (like cameramen, grips, actors etc.,) but they are only called in for more elaborate projects.  The proprietor of Griphon Media is Glenn Griffiths and his character and resume is probably just as colorful and diverse as the services GM offers.  Glenn apparently has always been a very good traditional artist and actually bought his first 486 SX computer by selling a stain glasswork he made to a prestigious hotel.  When asked how he got in to film making, this is what he said:  “I first started off in Desktop Publishing using programs like PageMaker and Quark.  When I wanted to add pictures, I found I had trouble, so I learned about computer graphic formats.  Then I said to myself, wouldn’t it be cool if I could make the pictures move.”  Making them move he did.  Glenn has recently made 30 sec. spots for CBC Television and the other video composites I’ve seen of his rival any special effect seen on primetime.

Glenn presently works with all the state of the art programs I know of in this area including After Effects, Premiere, Quicktime and the new mpeg-4. For this review, I have to give Griphon Media four of five stars.  If you would like a unique high tech multimedia gift, for any special event and without breaking the bank, then take advantage of Griphon Media in central Alberta.
