Part of the problem with the PVC line is that many of them are of characters who really don't show up in too many alternate colors, be it as new characters or simply a new scheme for whatever reason. It's a source of annoyance for me. I mean, if they'd made a Sideswipe... man, I could do Red Alert, G2 Sideswipe, Tigertrack, Clampdown and Deep Cover.
A Bruticus PVC... there's one I could use a half-dozen of, rather than the Overlords I seem to have acquired. Or a Prowl. Or more Armada PVCs.
At any rate, Maggie's options were pretty damn slim, what with Takara already making the "Movie Preview" version based on the Diaclone coloration of the toy. About my only other choice was "Matrix Glow".
Then good old #wiigii! bombarded me with "Black Hole Magnus, dammit!"
"Great, solid black-and-gray Magnus. Thanks, you bastards."
"NO! From 'The Killing Jar', jackass!"
"YOUR MOM is a killing jar."
(That's not verbatim, by the way. Verbatim involved more profanity.)
At any rate, the alternate-universe-colors Magnus came out pretty nice. He's vaguely Diaclone-ish, but not too much
I didn't follow the animation cels exactly, as the alternate-universe colors don't qute follow an "all parts X color become Y". Which they should. I also made him a smidge more toy-like, with the extra chest-wing paint, darker windows, and a backpack the color of the inner cab robot.
I was about to shoot the pictures when I realized I'd painted the tires black. Which they shouldn't be. Doi. I think the off-white blue-gray looks better than plain white.
I wasn't sure about giving him an Autobot sigil. I mean, I don't have one in green. Not quite sure how I'd go about giving him one right now.
