This is what happens when I have a buttload of SkyRaider PVCs, am REALLY bored, and trying to avoid doing a third Thundercracker.
And don't quite have a good matching color for G2 Starscream's pinkish-salmon.
And various other excuses for not doing the numerous repaint ideas I have, hence the purchase of a buttload of said mold.
Any rate, this is one of the early e-hobby recolors of G1, back when they were on a clear-and-black-pairs kick. The clear actually worked well for Starscream, what with the whole pre-established ghost thing. Black was tied into his Machine Wars body by Ichikawa's bio for the toy. Which... is kinda the best one can hope for, I guess.
Yeah, the bio here is lifted almost verbatim from Doug Dlin's translation of his official bio, with a few omissions made for space reasons. This version never actually got tech-spec numbers, so I used his HOC stats, with Courage tweaked to conform a little more with the bio.
The gray wings and launchers are actually a nice break, taking up a lot more real estate than gray normally gets in black recolor land. And the massive amount of gold didn't hurt. As far as black recolors go, this is probably the second-best one, behind the Lucky Draw Black Armada Megatron.
There's not much to say about painting this one. The gold paint actually cooperated this time, which is nice.
I kept the side-vents black, to mimic the cone-vent-thing of the toy. I like it.
The toy did come with Starscream's normal stickers, which I've never actually seen applied to the toy. But I added the silver details from said decals just for a little variety.
