Ah, Siren. Pity the closest we'll have to a Nightbeat PVC is Minerva, Siren's nowhere as good by himself. He's the Lou to Nightbeat's Bud. Kinda. While I HAVE painted the clear Minerva PVC up in blue and yellow, it just ain't the same, yannow? And I'd like to think I did a pretty good job of giving that ridiculous repaint a fairly credible backstory.
I "cheated" just a smidge by using the color version of Shuta for the base. But hell, the blue-plastic didn't change between Siren & Shuta, so why not take advantage of it? Besides, it was a spare color version anyway. I bought a whole case of this Act, even though I already had Shuta, Metalhawk, and Overlord, with Devastator and Omega Supreme in the upcoming HOC Wave 5 (who I will buy to complete Metroplex). It was MAINLY a gamble on a color Black Zarak (which I got, yay) and the chasers (which I didn't) that made me buy the case, which was on HLJ's deep discount. Plus there's an abundance of alternate color schemes for Dev & Omega.
Actually, the black plastic was the same for both toys too. But in typical "slavishly replicate cartoon colors" fashion, those areas end up merely a semidark gray on the PVC. So's I changed THAT.
I also replaced the gray of his waist and biceps with a light blue to match his face and further differentiate him from Shuta. Those areas are blue plastic on the toy, anyway.
I wish more molded taillights and such had been at least stickered back then.
I didn't bother with the gold Fire Chief crest on his legs and doors. Well, yet. I could very well go back and do them. I've recently been adding more detailed detailing to the figures... but I really don't know if I'm up to THAT.
