Damn, the Sideways PVC is funky-weird. It's an odd, ninja-like pose... for a charcater who never really did a whole lot of ninja-y crap. I mean, yeah, he was a saboteur, but still. It's just not terribly appropriate for the character. Its odd pose is complicated by odder construction, making painting all the more fun.
Which didn't help the fact that so much of him is yellow, a paint that has never played well with others. The dark pewter really shows through, so it takes multiple thick coats.
His inner arms actually have a fairly complicated color arrangement. I like it. Bit of a nuisance to paint, but looks good. Nice small portions of black, yellow, purple & dark gray.
I know the battleship-gray I used isn't as dark as the toy's dark gray, but well, whaddayagonnado.
I really couldn't find a decent-looking green that matched the toy's clear-green tone. The gloss green Tamiya Park Green was more or less the best compromise. The shine at least gives it a pseudo-Energon-weapon vibe.
Yes, I made up the bio whole cloth. I'm hoping that he, Ultra Magnus and Treadbolt will get official bios online, or perhaps in a Fleer card set assuming they make one. Though they'd probably have to go with show-shots to get the high number of cards, what with the fairly reduced cast.
Why the hell did the PVC only come with one Mini-Con noggin? I want someone to explain this to me. There is no good reason to only include ONE alternate head. Especially since one of the two he has gets what... all of maybe sixty seconds screen time? He should have had Rook-head and Crosswise-head, not Sideways-head.
But ideally all three, since the normal robot mode head is more Rapid-Runny. Well, kinda.
Sorta.
Aw, hell.
