Powerlinx Optimus is an odd case. His color arrangement is not traditionally Prime-y... yet it works. It's still reds and blues and grays, just mixed up all weird. And it works for him.
This is probably one of the cleanest-looking repaints I've ever done, especially when you see it in-person. The paint is all remarkably even, with very few noticable thin spots or streaking/clumping. I'm very happy with it. Trent Troop remarked that it looked like it came out of the package like that.
Mind, I don't think any of the PVCs I've gotten from either side of the world had a paint job as careful as I tend to do (in fact, many are just sloppy), but I understand what he meant and that it was supposed to be a compliment.
At least, it better be.
The Azure Blue is lighter than the toy's medium blue, but not as light as the pictures suggest. I'm still fiddling with lighting, though I learned years back that some colors just don't show up on an RGB monitor like they do to the normal eye. This might be part of that.
I probably should have used the Red Gore rather than the Tamiya Color red. Tamiya is a middle-ground shade between Citadel's Blood Red and Red Gore, but as I look at it, the toy is closer to Gore. Ah well.
On that note, the Tamiya Red seemd a lot thinner than the blue.I had to apply a couple coats to get it even.
You almost don't see the Space Wolves Gray at all; its the color I used to represent his clear-plastic parts. It blends so nicely.
Reprolabels simply doesn't make a sigil small enough to fit into that tiny llittle spot on Prime's chest. Then again, Takara didn't put a sigil stamp there on the normal one, either. So that's allright, I suppose.
